and the best part is that... prime LeBron can't get past old KG :D

The reason he was facing extreme competition was because his team wasn't good enough in the regular season. What is KG's excuse from 05-07? 3 straight missed playoffs.

Minimal support around him was his excuse. KG was easily a top 5 player from '05 through '07. Not everybody can get a get out of jail free card, Gasol, like Kobe did.

I would take the mvp season Garnett over the Lebron we have seen to this point. People say they would take Dwight over Lebron if he reached his full potential. Well, that KG would be the equivalent.

Love KG, even if he is a tad overrated here, but LeBron is probably a top ten guy and superior first option.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Can't go wrong with either one. I'll probably take KG but taht's because I value defense a lot and KG is an all time great on that end.

Only on realgm is 27,000 points, 5 rings, 1 rs mvp and 2 finals mvp considered overrated!

it really depends on what type of team/players you have, but with out knowing it should be lebron. but anyone who says lebron easily is a moron. they need to stop looking at stats. prime kg's impact on any team makes him comparable to just about any player

Mo/Pavlovic
Boobie/Szczerbiak
West/Smith
Wallace/Hickson
Z/Varejao

Hassell/Foye
James/Hudson
Davis/Jaric
Smith/Wright
Blount/Madsen

The 1st team is better but I don't think it is 34 games better. The TWolves won 22 games the next year without KG. Do you think that Cavs team would win 56 games without LeBron? They would have a tough time winning 26 games without him.

that proves nothing. judging players by how the team plays without them. with kg if im not mistaken won close to 60 games in a super tough western conference

They had 1 58 win season. The Cavs had a lot more playoff success with him. LeBron took a crap team and won more playoff series that postseason than KG won in 12 seasons in Minnesota combined.

Minny with KG and scrubs never reached the Finals, LBJ and scrubs on the other hand...

against the wizards, new jersey, and the pistons. we saw what happened when he played the type of team kg would see in the first round.

LeBron, if I get to keep him, but this playoff rationale is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), RealGM is terrible at seeing the forest from the trees.

edit: Is this like, twelve years of PRIME KG or something? I don't really get the question now that I look at it.

Lebron James. Close, but LBJ is superior.

With ray allen, pierce, rondo and that stacked celtics roster. If lebron loses to them again with Wade/Bosh tho....

2008 he shouldn't have won, but last year he should have.

Never is a pretty strong word as well as pretty inaccurate. The Cavs defeated the 53 win Pistons in 2006-2007.

Prime KG was one of the greatest players the league has ever seen, but he didn't have the support necessary to compete legitimately for a title. I'll wait and see what Lebron manages in Miami, but we're talking Oscar Robertson versus Bill Russell with offense here, in a sense (until/unless Lebron proves otherwise).

KG was flipping incredible, no questions, no hesitation. The only reason he isn't ranked higher on a GOAT list is that he doesn't have the team achievements to stack up with the big dogs at the top of the list. In his hey-day, he could stand with anyone you cared to mention.

Let me guess. Losing in 2008 was acceptable because he didn't have HC. Losing in 2010 was an abomination because he did have HC. Yawn.

Me personally I would have to go with KG. He can do everything and really I just think he wants to win more

hmm... I think I'd have to wait and see what happens in the next few years (2 - 3 years including this one).
