March Madness - NCAA (and NIT, if necessary)

Post#1 » by pineappleheadindc » Fri Mar 18, 2011 5:33 am

Just wanted to start a thread for the best sports time of the year.

The afternoon sessions today featured more down-to-the-wire games than I've ever seen for a first round. Amazing.

Who's in YOUR final four?

Gawd, I wish I could go to a bar all day and watch all the games. If the rest of the tournament is as entertaining as yesterday, it'll be the best tournament ever. I never come close to winning the brackets, and you can see why with my final 4: UNC, Duke, Kansas, Kansas St. UNC beats Kansas in the final. Big day for Roy Williams.

I had some first weekend upsets but eventually all four #1's making it to the Final Four. Probably the first time I've ever done that.

I had St. John's in the Elite 8 I think and BYU eliminated after the 2nd round. I, like LR, still have all 4 #1s going to the final four.

Me too.

I only got 10 of the first 16 right. The good news is that 14 out of my Sweet Sixteen are still alive, and 7 out of my Elite 8. I might recover.

Thanks to this board for providing so much info on Faried - I'm the only one in either of my pools to have picked Morehead State over the Puny Pitinos. My best day one ever (14/16 and 13/16), and probably one of the best I can remember in terms of games.

I have Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame and Pitt in the Final Four on the sheet I'm using in my family bracket challenge. My youngest (picking totally at random as best I could tell) had Princeton, Missouri, St. Peters and Belmont. So, he's lost 3 of the 4.

I'm 11-5 on picks so far with 3 Sweet 16 picks out (Clemson (don't know what the hell I was thinking), Louisville and Utah State). I did get Richmond over Vandy.

Meh. My bracket will end in burning wreckage like it does every year. :)

I have Ohio State (UNC in some brackets), Duke, Kansas & Wisconsin in my final four. I correctly predicted Morehead State, Richmond & Gonzaga winning. But I also had ODU, Clemson & Utah State winning as well.

I got Oakland winning against Texas. I got GMU winning too.

Dat: We're going head-to-head on that Oakland-Texas game. If you're right, my bracket is hosed -- I have Texas going to the Finals. :)

You had Morehead St?!? Good for you. I did pick Richmond, and Gonzaga, and West VA winning but blew it on ODU, Utah State. I also had Michigan St. going to the Sweet 16 before losing to BYU. I have #1's in all regions except for UCONN, with Kansas beating Ohio State in the final.

I took my alma mater, Syracuse to the round of 16, beating Xavier in the second round. But I have North Carolina beating them then. Hope to be wrong there.

Oakland has it on lock. They have some kid named Eackles. I wonder if its Ledell Eackles son?

To add it probably is. The kid is playing totally out of control. Just like dad used too.

Of course its early but Oakland is down 10. Texas looks like it came to play. I really like Tristan Thompson by the way.

I had Louisville and Missouri making runs deep, and Vandy in the Final Four. Obviously, my bracket is ****ed. Next year, I'm playing it safe lol

Belmont over Wisconsin was a sucker bet. The #13 seeds aren't that much different than the #16 seeds.

My Bracket is good for now, I do have BYU going on a little run fueled by Jimmer, I hope that works for me. Puke I have in the final...just because they're Puke.

Biggest "Cinderella" for me is Washington going to the Elite 8. First round...umm, 2nd round (I HATE this 68-team field)...upset still to come -- Marquette over Xavier. 9 over 8 doesn't count as an upset.

Oakland is a good team but Texas has played very well today IMO. They looked poised to make a long run.

Oakland was capable of beating a lot of teams in this tourney, but it doesn't look like Texas is one of them.

Kev, I'm with you.

I refuse to call those 4 play-in gams as a round. In my mind, THIS is the first round.

I wouldn't have believed that name - Ledrick Eackles - if I hadn't seen it.

That'd be like me naming my son Ruzrick - rather than something dignified like Ruzious, Jr.
