Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 4
Hey, I'm not sold on Jonas V either. I wasn't as high as some on the bucknell game. The one thing I love about Kemba is that he "appears" to have that killer instinct. But I have issues about his size and ability to run a offense. I'm just not sold on him as "our " pg prospect. I'd rather grab a wing or a big this draft and a guard in 2012.
My draft board as of now.
1. Kyrie
2. Harrison Barnes
3. Perry Jones/Dwill
4. Kanter/Val
5. BPA
I really loved T.Jones, But I have doubts about his offensive game. But I love his defense. It really stands out to me. One of the better parts to his game.

Joseph doesn't seem explosive at all. He doesn't really seem to break down his man off the dribble.

I've watched him a bit. He's good. No doubt. But he would benefit from another year.

I think Kemba's draft stock is going to rise. I think he goes in the 7-12 range.

Absolutely, as would most freshman, but this draft is less-than-awesomesauce and if he has another big game he could earn some major buzz. His length, power and explosiveness really shone today, the qualities ones needs to possess in order to overcome being short-ish.

Not bad. But given what I've been able to see
Kyrie
Williams
Walker
Terrence Jones
Sullinger/Leonard
Barnes?(depending on the tourney)
Kanter hasn't played all year so his inclusion in the top 8 is not sound for me. Jonas just looks like a complete bust to me.

He's got a great handle! and yes he is indeed explosive the system is catered to the bigs they have down low.

I agree. But I think he could really raise his stock by returning. I'm also not sure about the bigs going to Texas next year. So that might hurt.

Looks good to me haha. I'm just not sure about Walker and Lenard. I like them both but not sure for the range we'll be drafting. I could see them both if we could pick up a lottery pick. But even then i'm not sure Leonard is the wing we need. A lot like Demar but with better hands/rebounding. I'm still intrigued by Terrence Jones. I'm not sure why he's fallen so much in mocks. But the talent without a doubt is there. He just doesn't seem strong mentally. Like he's not always there. Day dreamer?

It already has! the guy has big shot, game breaker potential. He singlehandedly won the toughest tournament in conference play, the Big East. He is going to big a high selection mainly because its a weak draft and secondly because once they get him in for workouts his uncoachable skills will be on display. (Speed, Quicks, Ball handling ability) Only Kyrie Irving could match him in that regard and Kyrie is not as explosive.

I believe Kyrie is explosive. Great first step, solid crossover. The thing with Kyrie is his amazing play making ability. Something Kemba nor Jimmer don't have. Kemba and Jimmer are great scorers. But it takes more than that. Especially at the pg position. But Kyrie is an amazing pg score in his own right.

Leonard I think it will come down to the workouts. He's been putting up solid numbers for the past two seasons, I would put his ceiling at Gerald Wallace. Terrence does have that dazed and confused look which is puzzling to me but I like his frame and his ability to use his body well offensively and his rebounding and shot blocking ability defensively.
Again this is definitely a weak draft so you're not going to find that perfect fit, I think its best to draft the guy that is showing the most promise now rather than draft the guy who you think down the line will turn into a stud. This year I opt for the safe pick and not the caliper test pick.

He'll be the full time sg next year as Kabongo will run the point. Cojo is an NBA tweener, but a very goo one.

A couple of more games like this in the tourney and TT will have played himself into the lottery this year. He's the Anti-Bargs; great motor and all heart. I actually wouldn't be adverse to us taking him as long as we could move Bargs and one of Amir or Easy Ed for another first rounder and players (s). I think TT has the most upside at the pf spot over ED and AJ.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 4
lol, I don't believe in that caliper test. But I do think its a fair test. I for one would think Harrison would ace that test. While T.Jones would....Yeah. lol. Not do well? I dunno. Just my opinion. But at the end of the day I hope B.C goes BPA. The best part about us talking about the draft is that NO ONE should be surpised when Bryan picks. Because we've all talked about every possibility.

I think Kemba is a very good playmaker he's just not asked to do that at UConn because he is their go to guy. Is he as adept as Kyrie? hell no but I also don't think Kyrie has the same sort of explosiveness Kemba has.
Kyrie is still head and shoulders the better player because his overall package screams 'can't miss' but Kemba to me has tools that make him a guy that will burn you down the line if you decide to pass on him in favour of... Valanciunas.

Well, Rivals.com has a few guards going to Texas in the top 100 but only one big, ranked #83. He might want hang around to play with Kabongo or something, and as I said it would absolutely benefit his game, but if he's projected as a late-lotto pick he may feel like he had to come out this year. Next year's draft is thought to be much better, and with a bunch of bigs at the top along with the guards.
You mentioned Terrence Jones earlier, and I was also much higher on him pre-tournaments but I'd still like to grab him with the pipe-dreamy, 2nd (late)lotto pick if he slips. I wonder if Calipari would even want him back with all of the talent he's got coming in next year(and the one-and-done promises).

You guys do realize that for almost every college guard they share time at the 1 and 2 right? It'll be no different in this case.
