No way to make playoffs

Post#1 » by Lava Rock Kid » Fri Mar 18, 2011 4:45 pm

If you compare our remaining 13 games compared to memphis 12 games we cannot overtake them.

We have 11 tough games and 2 easy games left,
They have 8 tough games with 5 easy games left.

Our head to head match up on the 21st will be on the 2nd half of a back to back for us at their building.

I cant help to think of wasted opportunities this team blew.

You are probably right. The other night they showed the toughest schedules remaining and I think Jazz have the 2nd toughest. At this point though, I am fine either way because both outcomes have good things.

If we make the playoffs, great. That will be a good boost going into next year and good experience for this really young team. It would be a great accomplishment after all that has happened this year.

If we miss the playoffs, we will get another lottery pick that will hopefully help us either make a good second lotto pick or trade it away for a proven player.

I don't see much downside to the rest of the season. I have had fun watching these new guys develop and watching this team figure things out.

I never ever root to lose- but that being said, getting a lotto pick vs getting a first round embarassment being the choices, I'll take that lotto pick.

What were we gonna do in the playoffs? We dont belong there.

NOH play a pretty tough schedule, we could potentially sneak in and take their spot, not to mention we play them twice.

They only have 3 or 4 games vs non playoff teams so that could be a possibility.

that is pretty funny. I was thinking about this idea on the way into work. On 1320, they said that the Jazz will make the playoffs. I know they are the radio station of the team and try to keep it positive. They said the Jazz will win their next two and Grizzlies will lose their next two. That the jazz will play just over .500 for the rest of the season and the grizzlies won't.

I think the Jazz will not have another 3 game losing streak, but I put the playoffs at 50%. There is more than one team that can drop off.

The Jazz aren't going to win the championship this year. I'd almost prefer they didn't make the playoffs, just so we have an amazing ensemble of rookies and sophomores next season.

If they do make the playoffs, I'll still be happy to watch, but at this point, I'm excited for two years from now instead of one month from now.

I heard them say that the Jazz could find themselves in the 8th spot before long due to Memphis' tough schedule between now and the head-to-head matchup. Then did say the Jazz run into their own tough stretch after that. But the way the team has been hot/cold lately, I'd say no game is "easy".

Playoffs = much needed money. I would always prefer them making the playoffs, and you never know if someone on the other team gets hurt and things change. I never root to lose.

Though, at least if they don't make the playoffs, they get Jimmer.

I hope the Jazz make the playoffs and I believe they will! Rudy Gay will be out longer than expected, the Grizz won't win more games than the Jazz.

The 2011 draft is pretty shallow and the Jazz already have a group of young guys so why not try and get as much experience as you can. Postseason experience will be good both on and off the court for this organisation. Business-wise it could only mean more profit. The fans would love to watch their favorite team during postseason play. Winning satisfies hunger and will only motivate the youngsters to do even better next season.

They have to give a pick anyways. The difference in value between a 2010 13 pick and a 2011 pick is probably pretty low. No rookie would burst on the scene with the ability to be a game changer at that point, they would have to compete with free agents too. It's always better to take the money in the bank, which is to make the playoffs and have experience and a 2011 pick, which can be used as a chip too. Once the MN pick is conveyed it opens up every year this pick is a possibility.

So how does our pick work?

As far as I know, they yet the pick the first time we miss the lottery from now until whenever. Though there may be an extra stip in the event that it doesn't pay off for a long time.

Thanks, man.

I'd prefer paying out that pick now. We need to make the playoffs. We have a hard enough time as it is getting playing time for our young players. We'll still get NJ's high pick. Here's to a strong finish.

Tommorrow is the biggest game of the year. Lose it and its over. win and we aren't looking to bad.

At least until the next game

This whole road trip will determine if we make the playoffs or not. We might be able to survive a loss to OKC... but I doubt it. Not with some tougher games still on the schedule.
