Perry Jones is a tease like Chris Bosh. He might actually average something looking really good like 24 & 12 but when it comes down to it he's just not that good.

I'm just glad he's solidifying himself as another viable prospect to draft. Right now we could potentially be picking as high as #1 and as low as #8, so the most important thing is having good prospects to choose from no matter how things shape out. I would be pretty happy if we had to 'settle' for Perry Jones.

this draft could end up brutal for us with how well Barnes is playing i see him going ahead of where we pick

Cleveland: Irving
Minnesota: Jonas (if its the wolves)
Sacramento: ? (P.Jones?Sullinger?Kanter?Trade down?)
Washington: Barnes
Toronto: P.Jones/T.Jones/Kanter/Sullinger

id hope wed end up with Perry just because of his potential but damn we needed to lose this game

In a dream scenario for me we draft Barnes, trade Jose + Bargnani for Nelson + Bass...and sign DeAndre or MGasol

Nelson/Bayless
DeRozan/Barbosa
Barnes/JJ/Kleiza
Davis/Amir
DeAndre or Gasol/Bass

Undersized at backup C or not I would love that potential!

wouldnt you keep Jose and Bargnani and try to lure Marc with Jose?

Calderon / Bayless
Derozan / Barbosa
Barnes / Klezia
Bargnani / Davis
Gasol / Johnson

but i agree i want Barnes on this team.

Reignman wrote:Barnes continues to show he's a top 5 pick. Told you guys all season not to jump off the bandwagon but some of you just love those small sample sizes.

You do realize that the sample you are using is just as small, right?
And it's not like he faced a semi decent team either.
24 points on 9/19 shooting (2/10 from 3), 16REB, 3AST, 4TO looks great, but considering he was the 3rd best player on his team against a #15 seed whose starting center is shorter than him, not so much.

I do think he's played like a top 5-7 pick, but I don't think people should overreact here. At least not right after his first game against the 15th seed. The fact is his play has been inconsistent and most people still don't see him as a top 2 pick YET. But the good thing is that we are going to see more of him and he has people ready to be convinced. I must admit I am more and more excited about him though.

I think this is the only bad thing I have to say about Barnes' game but other than that, he's really impressed me.

Unfortunately, I get the feeling that he will no longer be available when our pick comes.

It looks like we'll be picking first. You DO NOT take Walker with a Top 5 pick. In the 5-10, I'd do it happily but my biggest concern would be a) his size b) can he play defense against NBA PGs. I do like his killer instinct though. Barnes however impresses me a LOT. I see a Rudy Gay/Danny Granger talent in him. The kinda guy that might be an All-Star once or twice but nothing more than that. Nonetheless, a GREAT building block moving forward. I hope he's available with our pick because that's the guy I really want if we can't get Irving.

If Sullinger or Jones III is on the board, you take them. If D-Will is there, you check for Barnes first. If he's not available, then you draft D-Will.

I STRONGLY suggest acquiring another lottery pick. Either from Detroit or Milwaukee.

Also, you move Bargs and Calderon this offseason. They should not be Raptors next year.

No...Bargnani is of no use to the Raptors. Next to a beast like Dwight he might actually be ok. There is no such player even remotely close to giving the impact. Also I feel DeAndre would gel better with the "core" we're trying to establish (DD, JJ, Davis, Amir, Bayless and Barnes). I could easily see DJ gelling and forming a new Raptor culture then bringing in Gasol for a guy like Jose we're constantly trying to trade AND Marc's a good rebounder but not great defender.

I stick to my proposed scenario over the second you proposed...no offence.

Gasol would do wonders for Bargnani, his outside shot is important along with his scoring too. Calderon would recruit Gasol he would be more likely to come here if he gets to play with his friend and spanish teammate.

Sorry I just don't agree.

Good team's have an identity.

I think like that we'd just have a mixed message. You'd have a group like DD, Bayless, Amir, Davis and Barnes or Jones on one end and then Calderon, Bargs and Gasol on the other....with the conflict our team had in years past I think its time to let the later go.

With a group like Bayless/DD/Barnes/Davis/Jordan....that sounds like a much grittier and hungier team. Forget the finesse. I'm sure Barnes etc will bring some of that but that starts a much tougher culture for the Raps and that's what will win games. Guys like Bargnani and Gasol are band aids to the problem and the problem is the culture.

As "spirited" Jose, Bargnani and Gasol are...I want grit with some talent.

Dump them and Triano...and I'll be on cloud nine!

Oh boy this is the draft year where we don't need a big man yet we have a worse case scenario where we'll be stuck with Kanter + Sully as bpa list in the draft...look at the top 4 bottom teams, even when they switch it up in order they are all in desperate need of SFs (HB and PJ) and or Irving...BUCK man!

100% agree. I think that barnes will be a good shooter in this league, an above average rebounder and has some of that x factor. Would complement derozen very well because DD is a great slasher. Could see them having good floor spacing and chemistry.
Then davis could be our starting pf. If we do keep bargs then we NEED a defensive pg, as there will be too much penitration from the pg position and we all know bargs help d sucks. Id be willing to trade him for nelson/bass, could see that working for both teams

More cost effective too, we could sign some vets to fill out the bench

I'd rather keep Bargs than giving him up for an injury prone 29 year old shorty and a role player.

id look to trade the pick at that point honestly If this plays out....

CLE: Irving
MIN: Val
SAC: P.Jones
WAS: Barnes

i would trade the pick and get out of the draft completely or look to move down

This is gonna be a painful offseason to our painful season if we trade out of the draft!

Although, for me, that depends on Kanter's measurements as well. Im much more interested if hes legit center height than Cole Aldrich center height.

Otherwise I'll take a 2012 lotto pick from Cleveland thanks.

In that little workout vid with Calipari, was not impressed with Kanter's size at all. i'm sure he can be effective at the 5 but you're always going have issues when you're lacking 7-footers. Andrea/Kanter is damn big and hella talented but can it work defensively because Davis/Kanter is small as ****.

I guess he's a decent consolation prize. I like him more than Sullinger if only because of the mystique de Kanter. he'll produce and he'd probably be awesome to have at PF but he's a questionable building block, especially for us.

i'm sure PJ3 will be a workout warrior but right now i'm grateful that he's not in the tourney. Sacto will be hard pressed to pass on him but we'll have a shot.

If we end up staying at 5 heading into the actual lottery there's a better chance of a team behind us actually moving up into the top 3 and pushing us into 6 rather than us staying at 5. If that happens and Barnes continues on this path he'll be gone by pick 6.

I really don't want to end up with pick 6.
