Who do you want the Jazz to draft?

Post#1 » by Ballzak » Sat Mar 12, 2011 10:43 pm

Obviously we have no idea where the Jazz will be drafting but since that is the only thing to hold out for this year, who do you want the Jazz to draft.

Jimmer - personally with the nets pick it may be too high to take him there however in the 10-14 range where the Jazz will end up drafting with their own pick I could see it. I do think he would be gone by then though.

Kanter - an interesting prospect but with AL and Favors and Milsap it makes no sense even if they trade one of them to take Kanter that high as a bench player is silly.

Harrison Barnes - I would drool to see him in a Jazz uniform. Prior to this year he was unanimous number pick. He had an up and down year at UNC, but he just dropped 40 on Clemson. I think this guy is an athlete and the Jazz need some of them.

The Jazz don't need Derrick Williams or Jared Sullinger and I doubt the Jazz would take Kyrie Irving. Perry Jones would be an interesting prospect.

Thoughts anyone?

Other options are...

John Henson-slight frame but kid has skills.

Terrance Jones- Scoring athlete mold

Alec Burks-Put up one hell of a fight the other night.

and last, but definitely not least...

KEMBA!!!! Kid is clutch! Undersized but scores like a mad man.

I just pray the Jazz don't take anyone from overseas who isn't named Kanter.

I would like them to bring Tomic over. I would like to draft Barnes and Walker if possible. I like Knight out of Kentucky too.

Would want them to draft:

-Kyrie Irving
-Jonas Valanciunas
-Harrison Barnes

But those are the top three picks.

I definitely don't want them to draft:

Perry Jones-Major project, bad attitude, doesn't play defense, another PF.
John Henson-Sucks, another PF.
Jared Sullinger-Super short, less skilled Al Jefferson, another PF.

If the Jazz miraculously end up with a top pick they would be flat out STUPID not to take Irving. If you haven't watched and researched him I suggest you do.

My choices for the Nets pick:

1. Irving
2. H-Barnes
3. Terrence Jones
3. D-Will 2.0

My choices for our own pick:

1. Kawhi Leonard
2. Kemba
3. Jimmer

But If I were KOC I would package both of our picks and whatever else in order to pick up Kyrie Irving. If Minnesota or Washington gets the top pick I can see them considering it.

Kanter
Irving
sullinger
barnes

I like them the most out of the top ten.

Take the BPA..I wouldn't worry too much on need neccesarily. really no good pure guards anyway outisde irving and he might be the most sure thing in this draft.

T. JONES will be a stud along with Barnes, Irving I'd take Williams too he's going to be a great player too! With Utah's pick Jimmer Kemba Leonard but I am not sure I want 3-5 1-2 year players on this team that's not a good thing.

Whats the down low on Dwill 2.0? It seems to me like he could play the 3 just fine but everyone projects him as a PF. We don't need another undersized PF...or another PF at all.

I highly doubt Washington would make a quality for quantity trade at this stage of their rebuild. The players projected late lottery are no incentive for a team to pass up a chance on Irving/Kanter/Barnes for Vesely/T. Jones/Alec Burks.

If they somehow come up with the number one pick, they'd be stupid not to take Irving. Harris is on the books for a couple more years, so they would have to put him on the market and see what they could get (new CBA will be a major factor). Anyways, this is what the jazz's draft board should look like:

NJ's pick (1-4)

1. Kyrie Irving - would be the new face of the franchise and be the pg for the future. Has drawn comparisons to cp3

2. Harrison Barnes - would be the starting sf next year, essentially making ak47 expendable.

Utah Pick (9-12)

1. Kemba Walker - gives the jazz an electric scorer on the perimeter

2. Jan Vesely - would be if they got Irving, would be a monster athlete at the 3/4 and likely a comparison to AK

3. Jimmer - personally i don't see him translating to the nba game very well, but Utah loves him. My facebook is overrun with jimmer's name being inserted into chuck norris jokes

Kyrie is the only sure fire stud in this draft.

Barnes Next

Derrick Williams: I think he is the next coming of Millsap/Marion/Beasley and would be a beast at the 3/4. I could see him becoming a little bit like Carmelo too. I would be for this because if Favors comes on we could send Millsap out for a SG.

My dream is for us to somehow end up with the #1 with the NJ pick, and the #12-#14 Utah pick to land in the top 3 as well. Then we could have both.

With the #14th pick, I would trade it with Minnesota if they want to move up, and keep our own pick next year in what should be a deeper draft. Perhaps Minnesota would give us their 2nd round pick for it and release us from the pick next year. Or better yet, if they love a guy at #14 they trade us the Memphis pick at #18 and release us from our owed pick to them. That way, we would still be able to pick up Knight at #18, and we would have essentially picked up Jefferson for the #14 pick.

The problem with this is if the Jazz make the playoffs, you are looking at trading a lotto pick for something in the low 20's. The east sucks bad enough that they are going to be taking all of the teen spots for the next little while with the low records you can have and still make the playoffs. Even if next years draft is better, the odds of it being 6-7 players deeper is a lot to ask, plus, if we end up playing really well you could potentially be trading down in the draft 10-14 spots.

Barnes is tops on my list. I think his potential is really high and that the few problems with his game can be easily fixed. Reminds me a lot of a Paul Pierce/Corey Maggette type player - great at finishing with contact and getting to the line, has the potential to be a great shooter.

Thank you for explaining that you are nothing but a Jimmer kool-aid drinker and that nobody should take you serious. You obviously don't know basketball.
