CA: Griz close to Zach Randolph contract extension

Post#1 » by I Am Awesome-O » Sun Mar 20, 2011 7:15 pm

The Grizzlies and Zach Randolph had serious contract negotiations over the past week, and they continue to discuss the framework of a four-year deal that could be finalized soon.

Randolph's agent, Raymond Brothers, and Griz general manager Chris Wallace confirmed they are moving closer to a deal that would keep the gutsy power forward in Memphis beyond this season. After months of not talking specifics, the Griz recently presented an offer to Brothers, who described the talks as constructive.

I'm guessing he's going to want 4-5 years at $14 mil and Memphis will give it to him.

He joked at first to marc about getting the same deal his brother got:

$14 million is way south of that.... I'm guessing they will have to spend around $16M a year to keep him. maybe more!

Yeah, you're probably right. I think he probably is close to deserving that amount.
My estimate is probably more just wishful thinking and the hope that he'll give the Grizz a discount rate because he loves his situation. :)

Were there any reports on how much money Zach got for his extension. I know it's for 4 years, but can't find a dollar value.

Hopefully there's a stipulation in there somewhere about him hitting a high percentage of his shots against the Thunder. :) :-? :blank:
