Matt Cooke does it again

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Matt Cooke had an in-person hearing with NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell in Toronto today, stemming from his elbow to the head of New York Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh.

The incident occurred less than five minutes into the third period of Sunday's Rangers-Penguins game, when Cooke went high and landed an elbow on McDonagh's jaw. McDonagh had his back turned to the Penguins forward, and was in the process of shooting the puck into the offensive zone. Cooke was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct.

If Campbell doesn't give him at least 20 game I think Bettman should finally can Campbell and put someone competent in that role. The NHL is getting a bad rep because of these nasty head shots and an even worse rep for the horrible inconsistencies in the discipline for said hits.

Cooke should be tossed out of the league for this crap, its only going to be a matter of time until he ends someones career with one of these cheap shots. And i`d also like to point out that Mario Lemieux hasn`t said a word about this publicly yet. He was pretty quick to villianize the Islanders and their players not that long ago for their dirty play.

Rest of the season and first round

I'm surprised they were so harsh, but glad. I would have preferred more personally, as Cooke is the dirtiest player in the league and just scum in general, but this was a good, resounding step

edit: just looked, regular season is only 10 games (ive been super busy and didn't notice how close it was to ending). Not enough for sure then. Should have been full playoffs as well

They kinda got it right for once. Although he should of been suspended for all of the playoffs.

Somebody just kick this ass clown out of the league I mean he hasn't learned by now. I say just say **** it and say go earn your keep somewhere else we don't need you.

I mean what will it take another Bertuzzi/Moore Brashier/McSorley or something along those lines for somebody to end up either killed, seriously hurt or something like that for the NHL ro realize this guy is a clown
