Good god man. Gwynn has not come close to showing that kind of potential. How many players in the majors can put up .320 with 60 stolen bases each year? Jose Reyes and???

I would really like to see what people would think of him if his last name wasn't Gwynn.

I think he has that potential. More realistically, he'll put up around .280 IMO, but I don't think 60SB are out of the question.

And if we're going to acquire a power hitting RF, then I would rather deal Hart then Gwynn, because that power hitting RF would supplant Hart's role on the roster. Gwynn, on the other hand, would be needed because of his leadoff skill, something that Hart hasn't shown he can do.

As I was reading this post that was my exact thought. Rickie is NOT a leadoff guy. The only reason he's hitting there now is cause he runs fast. Move him down in the order and let him be more of a free swinger and hit for power. Tony has shown flashes to be our best defensive OFer and a very reliable on base guy. With Hall and Gwynn you have 2 OFers and then you hope Hart pans out or look to upgrade him.

Gwynn will be lucky to ever steal more than 30-35 in a big league season.
