what exactly missing?
So I know everybody will start saying that we need Sg and so on.
But we have a team. Which try to play great, try to play to the end. Jazz trying to do their best but anyway we end with the bad games.
I mean we are not playing with the good team right now. But still can't win.
What is missing? Team chemistry? Lack of energy? Or there is all Raja Bell fault?)
What will help us? Or Who will do that?

Re: what exactly missing?
good back up pg who can score and a great second guard who can create. Bell is useless price watson cant score so no one really guards them. its like having five guys guarding our three other players. Wanna be .500 team than we are on course. want to be a good play off team than we are one solid scoring wing away. Want an elite team than we need an unstoppable wing and a great back up pg who can be a starter on most good nba teams. As for who and where to find these guys. Wish I knew.

Re: what exactly missing?
Consistency from the wing positions.
We need a 16PPG scorer from the wing that will give that to us every night on 40-45%+ with at least 1-2 three's a game.
Get that and we are in good shape.

I'd add solid defense in addition to that wing player. Those two things put us back where we were at the beginning of the season.

What I think is missing the most is a solid defensive scheme and a team of guys committed to that scheme.

A combination of what has been said. An Eric Maynor type of back up point guard- He can shoot and play defense.
An Wes Mathews type of Shooting guard. He can shoot and play defense.
An Athletic Small forward who plays defense.
Oh! We had two of the three last season.
We don't need Price, Watson, Bell Elson, Fesenko, Kirlinko, or Hayward!
Maybe, we still need a healthy Okur, and a re-signed Miles, and a beefed up Evans.
Make trades, sign free agents, Draft Well!
We need two back up point guards. I or 2 shooting guards. 1 or two small forwards and a back up Center who plays defense

Re: what exactly missing?
The more I watch Chicago I think it really is the defensive scheme. Their coach created a juggernaut as asst. coach in Boston, and has done wonders for what was a weak defensive team in Chicago just a year ago. Think about it, they add Boozer who is perhaps the leagues worst defender and yet they are one of the most tenacious defensive teams now. Everyone has bought in, and they are just nails.
Don't tell me that we don't have the players. Perkins is shorter and less athletic than Jefferson. He was just coached into being a beast. Allen and Pierce weren't stellar defenders before they all bought into their coach and the leadership of KG.
We need a defensive leader, and a leader in general to help all the players buy into a strong defensive scheme. Defense is about effort and scheme. For all the hype about Sloans teams being strong defensively, they never really were as tough and as committed as Sloan was himself as a player, nor did they ever have the players or the scheme to defend the 3, and block shots.
Now, they have the shot blocking but not the 3pt defense. Al Jefferson is fully capable of being defensively as strong as K. Perkins is. They block shots at about the same historical rate with Jefferson really doing well this year.
I believe we need to sign someone like Battier/Fisher to be our leader, and help all the troops buy into defensive tenacity. We also need Corbin to study what is being done in Chicago and then pattern our defense after theirs.
Chicago and Boston are championship contenders because of their commitment to defense. Next year with the development of Favors, we have the opportunity to be a strong defensive team, if we commit to it.

Re: what exactly missing?
What we're missing is basically what we had for a number of years, with a taller/physical version of Boozer basically in Big Al.
We're missing a coach that has defensive schemes and preaching defense like Tom Thibodeau. But if you point at one aspect, we're missing a guy that can be a shut down defender/defensive stopper that can get in the face of players.

#1 Larry H Miller
#2 Jerry Sloan
#3 Phil Johnson
#4 Wesley Mathews
#5 Carlos Boozer
#6 Kyle Korver
And lastly Deron Williams, who would have stayed a gentleman, had the Jazz maintained their winning ways.

If you're only a gentleman when things are going exactly how you want them to, then you're not much of a gentleman.

I still disagree about Deron staying "if the Jazz had maintained their winning ways." Go back to when Deron signed his contract extension after his rookie contract expired. The Jazz had just been to the Western Conference Finals and the Jazz offered him a 4 year contract or a 5 year one. He signed the shorter one. He was not happy even with that good team in place and having just been to the WCF that year. So no, he wouldn't be here anyway.
Can you explain to me how you would have dealt with all of the players we lost in the last year? How would you have convinced (if we wanted to) Boozer, Korver to stay? Since we were already far into the luxury and an undrafted player who had a decent first season wants about 7 million approaches you and you have a choice between using the money on him or replacing Boozer what would you have done differently? We used the money on Jefferson.
I am just saying what would you have done considering the the CBA and financial implications of everything. I just have to laugh at everyone who criticizes every move that management makes.
How about this also. When the Jazz know what picks they can get, you make the picks and then in 3 years we will see how well you drafted at those positions. They have to be available in the draft. Sound good?

Exactly.
And to add to that. A real leader knows how to lead when things get tough. It's real easy to lead when things are going well, but when things are going bad, thats the test.
