Forbes Ranks Jays 27th out of 30 teams in Value

The skinny
The Blue Jays are starting to resemble the Montreal Expos, the franchise now called the Washington Nationals because people stopped going to their games after the 1994-95 baseball strike. The team led the American League in attendance six straight years starting in 1989. They drew more than 4 million fans each year from 1991 through 1993. Last year attendance at the Rogers Centre fell 13% to 1.6 million fans. The Blue Jays, owned by Rogers Communications, the largest cable company in Canada had a moderate payroll last season ($79 million) but stand little chance of competing in the American League East, the best division in the majors.

No sir, there are not. You are thinking of the NFL; the other three leagues all have 30 teams.

As for this, I haven't read it, but this is an incredible hard thing to judge when the team is owned by the company that gets it's TV and radio broadcast rights and owns its stadium.

Forbes needs to take into consideration that our other major league teams aren't doing too well, and we are on the upswing in a rebuild mode. But hey, I really hope AA sees this and it pisses him off, he seems like a guy that works well when he is "cheesed"

Since when does Weems bring any kind of defense to the court anyway?

They're definitely pretty worthless these days. But hopefully on the upswing.

It's always odd that they sell out opening day.

Why is it odd? It's clearly become a Toronto tradition that will likely carry on forever.

With the stadium starting to become a little outdated and the team losing its direction in recent years it's not that surprising, but we all know this really isn't a meaningful indication of our city, fans, or the organization.
