Re: time to see a new starting pf?
I actually thought Diaw looked really good last night. Well, 99% good that is. He was aggressive attacking the lane and creating space for himself. He looked quicker than he usually does and his passing last night for the most part was really on point. He had 7 assissts but had probably 3 or 4 more "hockey" type assists as well.
The only problem was his obvious lack of willingness to score - or even shoot. I don't know if Hibbert's size intimidated him or if he just couldn't be bothered, but it was very obvious very early when he gave up some open shots by passing the ball to Kwa-man - who, on several occassions dropped easy passes.
I thought Diaw looked good though. The problem was he just didn't look to score when he should of even more than usual - which is a lot as is.
In saying all that, bench him and start DJW already! I want to see more of what that kid can do.
Oh, and while we are bashing Diaw, T2 should be getting smashed as well. He has been AWFUL since coming back. That mid range J that was money doesn't exist any more. Several of his jumpers didn't even look like going in.

He has to be the most frustrating player in Bobcats history. The guy is so talented. When he backs people down and does his flip hook off a few pivots, it is unstoppable. Why doesn't he get that?! His unselfishness is now actually selfish! If he only had the mentality of Jax, he would be a killer. ugh!

I'm still on the "we should have shut him down for the year" bus. Hell, Silas should go ahead and shut Tyrus, Jax, and Boris down for the remaining games.

Thomas, Jackson sure. Diaw would have to come from the bench. He may get oveweight at times but he stays healthy. No excuse for sitting him down without making full tank mode obvious. Hey I think they may start him just because of that. We have only 10 heatlhy players without him anyway. No question I would be even for starting Najera over him (for the lulz).

It's a shame because Diaw COULD be a great player. He reminds me of Derrick Coleman; talented but doesn't care.

If we bench him you best believe he'll bust out

I would love to see what TT could do as a starter, as that is probably our future, however it appears that he is just not right. I agree with others. DIaw should be bench, we need to shut down Jack and probably Thomas. Shut down Pryz as well. Give heavy minutes to DJ/Liv/Hendo/Cunnigham/DJW/Kwame/Temple. Those are the guys we really need to see playing. In a perfect world, I would start Cunningham AND DJW with Jack out. I would then have Diaw off the bench as a guy who could play SF, PF, or C.
I don't understand your logic. You've said in another thread that it was past time for us to tank. And sorry to bring that up again, but Diaw seems to be one of the only guy that has put all his "heart" in it. I agree we need to move him somehow this summer, since we cannot relentlessly afford such passiveness from our 9mil$ starting PF but benching him at this time of the season would not make any sense. First, it won't be perceived as a punishment for him actually you would be doing him a big favor as his lazy arse always abides by the law of the the least effort. Moreover, as a sixth man he is kind of useless (and bringing him with the second unit would make him look even worse) thus reducing his playing time and trade value. And furthermore we don't have anything that resembles a starting 4 in our present team, White is bench material and when Tyrus is given the minutes it's dumb play after dumb play. Silas has no choice but to start him.

What do you mean i've said that it's "past time for us to tank"?
DIwa has had his most success in his career as a 6th man, he is defiantly capable. I completley disagree, I think it would make a ton of sense. We need to see what we have for the future, DJW is our future not Diaaw. How do we know DJ@ isn't starting material until we try it? Even if he isn't, it would still be nice to see what he can give us...at this point it's not even about starting b ut just seeing what we have.

I remember when we got Diaw I stalked around the Phoenix board for a bit and the their view was different.
They said his best basketball was when he played as an undersized centre while Amare was out injured.
Once Amare came back he was never the same player and he didn't respond well to coming off the bench.
He really is an enigma who will frustrate whatever team he is on.
Hopefully Silas can keep convincing him to shoot and we might see a change. It would be nice if he could raise his trade value a little bit. You would have to think NYK would like him, but they have nothing left to trade.
Edit* I just realised he is currently our highest paid player! (although Jax overtakes him next year)

Re: time to see a new starting pf?
I really think everyone is approaching Diaw the wrong way. Sure, he's insanely talented when he wants to be, but instead of trying to push Diaw's round peg into the Bobcat's square hole, I think the Cats need to cut that square hole into a round one. Why try to force Diaw into being a scorer when it obviously doesn't work?
Instead, use an offense that is tailor made for Diaw's lust for passing and hyper ball movement. Surround him with shooters and let him create to his heart's desire. Jax can shoot, DJ can shoot, Hendo can shoot (sort of), let's increase the volume of shots and see what happens.
At any rate, waiting for Diaw to turn into Karl Malone or Amare Stoudemire is an exercise in futility.

The facts are:
Both DJ Augustine and Chauncey Billups have 1 year left on contract.
Both will test the free agency after next season and DJ will leave like Raymond did.
Boris is an expiring after next year and Shawnee Williams is expiring this year
Trade DJ and Diaw at 2011 draft for Chauncey, NYK 2011 2nd round pick and (a sign and trade) Shawnee Williams.
Then draft Kemba Walker PG at 8 and if he is not there draft Terrance Jones
Then at 18-20 draft best available SF if you got Walker and besy available PgG if you took Jones
Then 2nd round draft best Center and PG available

You are wrong about the NYK not having anything to trade for Boris

New York is in win now mode. Although I'm sure DAntoni would welcome a reunion with Diaw for a minimal price, NY would likely have zero interest in trading their allstar PG for DJ Augistin.
Whats more, from Charlotte's perspective, trading our 23 yo PG for someone who is over a decade older doesnt make any sense as far as rebuilding is concerned.

This. It's a pretty bad trade for Charlotte, and not the best for NYK. Though for the future having Augustin would make them much better, Diaw doesn't really solve their bigs problem. Plus he'd not get as many minutes as he's worth.

Re: time to see a new starting pf?
Yet if some one can turn that around it's Silas. Brown probably would have been the better coach during the game, but Silas, is much better at transforming the team to be better the next time out. I have never been happy with the Diaw trade, it stunk to much of getting a cheap player. However Charlotte is in a position that it gave away the only player that the could for draft picks in an almost useless draft year. However I'm still interested to see if Shaun Livingston becomes more reliable and resemble the numbers he put up in Washington.
Point being, is let the younger players play more, and lets just regroup for next year. See how Livingston reacts to some starting time (I know not that most popular opinion, but he's still a good player). We have a team of players that are better support players. We have 2 pass first G's, Diaw wont take shots, (though 20 assists isn't bad Marquette last night could have used that). We just need to get production from the people who are normally pass first. The key to success in this franchise is to get a player that produces, we have a team that can support him. We have a team that will be able to make a star, because of fantastic support role. I had hoped that Livingston would be more of that player then he is. He just needs to be more consistent.
