Post#1 » by KingLakers » Thu Mar 24, 2011 9:02 pm

I'm all for B Shaw taking over Phil but how about Larry Brown it seems like the perfect situation for him short term until Kobe retires 3 yrs probably he might be able to get 1 maybe 2 more titles out of this group. What u guys think ?

Who says Kobe is retiring in 3 years?

I believe he will play until he breaks Kareems all time scoring record.

I dont see how Kobe's body can hold up pass the next three yrs. And no one is breaking Kareem's total points record maybe Lebron or Durant have a chance but Kobe would have average about 2000 pts per season for the next 5 or 6 seasons to pass him I dont see how that happens. I think passing MJ is Kobe's real goal on the all time total points list.

No thank you.....there's a reason why this guy can't last at any given tenure, not even when he won it all with Det. did he last, whether that was his chosing or not...I think he's like Byron Scott, has initial success but then his team falls off and players tune him out.

Firstly, He needs about 5 25ppg season to break Kareem record.
Secondly, aint no way in hell he retires in 3 years.
Thirdly, Brown would destroy our system.

I'm all for B Shaw

i don't think larry brown is a good fit. he needs a team that he can mold towards his style, this team is too veteran for him and set in their ways.

Brown would be great for this team. He doesn't work with young teams but this is not a young team. I'd love him. Plus, he has a built in opt-out clause so if he isn't working we won't have to deal with it for too long.

Hell to the NO........OP must not be aware of Brown's "hit it and quit it" philosophy. He's worn out every teams star player that he's ever coach with the exception of the Pistons, because they were a team of misfits anyway. Brown has never stayed in any place longer than 4-5 years tops, Dr.Buss doesn't hire guys with that mentality. He made that mistake once with Mike Dunleavy, but Jerry West was at the controls then so it wasn't that big a loss.

Some of you guys need to really start putting some thought process behind what you think, Brown may be a good coach but he's a drifter, doesn't have a "people person" personality.....just to rigid to be a coach here. No dice.

Fantastic coach but he's at his best when he can build a team his own way rather than take a well-organized team and guide them like Jackson does.

He also likes to favor underachieving teams so may be the talent level might not make it a big challenge for him. Tactically he's still one of my favorite coaches ever and I hope he atleast takes a college job somewhere.

No thanks.. Never really liked his style of coaching... great defensive coach but he doesnt adjust to personnel and likes to mold teams built around scrappy defensive players/rebounders with a generally inefficient offense

Nothing against B-Shaw taking the helm...in fact, it is the most likely scenario.

However, I do think Brown would be great for the Lakers. He has them play D and his offense is multiple.

I think the vets would love a change from the triangle. Brown would have them running more...the post would be fed a lot more - a great thing when you have Gasol and Bynum.

The pick and roll would become a staple.

I also think that if the Knicks buy out Chauncey Billups, he would come to the Lakers for the MLE with Brown on board.

While it is not likely to happen, Brown would be an excellent coach for the Lakers.
