+1

If Rashard can start for us at the 3, Williams can also...

Wall/Young/Williams/Dray/McGee is a huge starting line-up...

i'm not ok with the 20 million dollar man riding pine, especially when he's still pretty darn good - guaranteed better than some rook. we can draft williams, or perry jones, or some other 3, but i don't like the idea of him starting ahead of shard. personally, i think we should look into packaging the pick for cousins or monroe. As we have seen in these past few weeks, our frontcourt depth is wafer-thin, and that a 3rd big man between McGee and Blatche will make all the difference.

Respectfully disagree... I wouldn't in any case not draft someone b/c we have a huge contract at the same position... That's passing up on talent, and given this team's lack thereof, it would be the unwise thing to do...

We're trying to build a team for the future and Lewis won't be a part of it anyway... It's like saying we shouldn't have started Wall b/c Arenas was/is better at the time... And I honestly don't think Rashard is better than Williams...

Rashard will get his minutes behind Williams and Dray regardless...

Rashard would get his minutes beside Williams at times I'm sure too, with Shard at the 3 and Williams at the 4, or vice versa.

I'm cosigning Dat's repeated assessment: We've got Wall and a dozen other holes on our team. As long as it ain't another point guard, draft the best possible running mate for Wall. If that's Williams, go get him.

If we draft Williams, I'd start him at PF and force Blatche and McGee to fight for playing time at C. Ideally, McGee has a good offseason and takes the starting job because I like the Williams/McGee combo to start (they play well with Wall) and I like the Booker/Blatche combo coming off the bench (run the offense through Blatche against opposing backups).

PG Wall/#33 pick (N.Smith?)
SG Young/Crawford
SF Lewis/#20 pick (T.Honeycutt?)
PF Williams/Booker
C McGee/Blatche
End of bench: C.Martin, M.Evans, K.Seraphin

Minny is yanking love for the rest of the season, the tank-race is on for the remainder of games. The question is who do Minny & Cleveland take if they go 1 & 2? Does Cleveland take Irving or Williams?

Not that JJ Hickson is John Wall talent, but he's one of their only building blocks at the 4. So is their "Rashard Lewis" contract that will be close to impossible to move, Jamison.
I've been hoping if they end up directly in front of us they go with Irving, simply because Irving is the last player we need in the top 5.

What if we did Williams with our lotto pick and Farried with the Hawks pick?

Wall
Young
Williams
Farried
McGee

That's an interesting lineup. Our forwards would go from being soft and immobile to a couple of bulldog attackers who are uber athletic. Offensively we might struggle at times, but the defense and rebounding would be better.

Things could break in our favor if Minny and Cleveland pick ahead of us. Hopefully, Cleveland takes Irving. If Minny is next, they'll probably be hesitant to draft Williams since they already have Beasley and Love on the roster. They might gravitate toward a floor spacing swing man like Barnes, or a long and quick forward like Perry Jones who will hopefully pan out to be a good defender in the Josh Smith mold. Or maybe they envision Kanter or Valanciunas as a full time center.

In general, we should be in good shape on draft day because most teams in the high lottery have different needs than us. The five other teams in the top of the lottery are: CLE, MIN, SAC, TOR and UTA. Of those 5, three of them (SAC, TOR, UTA) need a PG far more than anything else. They're pretty sure to draft Irving. Cleveland would probably take Irving too. Only MIN would take someone else. If MIN or UTA are picking 2nd, and Irving is off the board, I think they'd gravitate towards Barnes because they already have a bunch of bigs. SAC might look for a swing man as well.

I wouldn't waste a pick on Faried. He might end up as a useful role playing big in the pros, but he's a terrible fit on this team. I just don't see Faried bring anything to the table that isn't already provided by Booker, McGee and Seraphin. I'd lean toward a SF or a backup PG with that pick.

I don't know Nate. I felt the same way last week -- Farried and Booker are the same type of player. But Farried is a better version of Booker. That guy is an absolute monster on the boards, and his motor is nonstop. It's hard for me to overlook that type of ability. But I definitely see your point.

I agree nate, I like Faried, but If a guy like thompson, Honeycutt, Singleton, Leonard or Hamilton is there I would take my chances on them. Especially if we got Williams with our first pick.

Nice combination of length and athleticism there, and a fantastic start towards the up and down sort of roster that will best suit Wall.

As far as our chances at getting him: They look good. I doubt that the Wolves would pick him...Randolph had a great game last night, Love will be extended, and they have Beasley. The Cavs are a bit worrisome....but they have Hickson and probably love the potential that Irving could bring.

I have to say that I'm concerned though, because I could see Arizona winning this tournament, and as a result have his hype elevated to a level above Irving...

I would say that the Kings are the scariest prospect. They would likely love to place Williams alongside Cousins, especially if Irving is off the board :\.

I've said in the past that I wouldn't hesitate to move an asset in order to move up and grab Williams. I wouldn't blink at offering the ATL pick in order to guarantee his selection.

Unfortunately we have this horrible lottery system in place though. IDK...I'll be a sad man if we are selecting 4th or 5th...

I am totally guilty of loving the last guy I saw have a great game.

that is definitely Derrick Williams right now. He was off the charts
good against Dook. And I really saw the BBIQ aspect of his game
there too with the exception of a careless TO or 2 very early
but jee-mi-knees, that was an awesome performance.

Not to worry, my good man. Irene's got us covered.

Just saw this Derrick Williams Mix for the first time. The whole thing is worth watching, but check out the second highlight and tell me he doesn't have the handle to play the 3. He'd need to improve and refine his skills for sure, but I can definitely see him developing a complete offensive game as a 3. He actually reminds me of a slightly less explosive Blake Griffin with a better jumper. I don't care what position that is.

He's definitely a three. Hey, we've got space for a three on this roster. He looked good last night.

Wiz also have space for a two, a four and a five.

Just sayin.
