Ohio State going out is the worst possible thing that could have happened to us. A top 5 prospect heading back to school and two guys that were coming out anyway getting bumped up a peg now.

yep. This also makes the prospect of getting another lotto pick (unless it's #7 or better imo) much less appealing. Assuming all of these guys declare (if anyone doesn't it makes it even worse), there's only about 8 or 9 solid prospects, after which things start to drop off a lot imo.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 5
Regarding the Kemba / Knight debate, I'd definitely go with Knight.
Knight has good size and athleticism, and while his PG skills are still raw and underdeveloped, the potential is there for him to develop that side of his game. He improved this aspect of his game as the season progressed.
Kemba is a SG in a PG's body. And that will never change. I don't think he will be a bust. I think he will be a good pro, but he's not a guy I'd look at in the 5-6 range.

My concern with Kemba is that he's not strong or quick despite his minature size. The only guys at his size that excel in the NBA are either exceptionally strong (Lawson, Lowry) or exceptionally fast (Lawson, Jennings). he's neither. It will be hard for him to carve out a niche.

And before you start, Turner isn't a bust, he just doesn't fit in with the 76ers because they already have 3 ball handlers in A.I, Holiday, and Lou Will, and he doesn't have a great shot. This team is missing a play maker (Jose IS NOT a play maker) and I think Turner could easily fill that void, plus he rebounds. I bet he could put up something like 10-15/8/6 daily.
If we don't draft Irving, Sullinger, or Williams I say we trade our pick for ET.
Did you make an account to promote we get ET? Anyways, I actually like ET. If Sixers we're interested i'd do it depending on where we draft.
Funny I have been thinking about this for a while too
I would most definetly trade out draft pick for ET in a heartbeat
Turner isnt a bust he just doesnt fit well in Phily..He could be a monster here...Good thing about having him is we can start either Barbosa or Bayless as PG but use them as SG which they are better suited anyway

How, in God's name, can you question Kemba Walker's quickness? In terms of strength, he's one of those wiry-strong guys. He has an ability to absorb contact and finish at the rim.

I think Kemba is pretty quick...

Kemba very quick. No doubt about it. He also has a lot of heart. Thats something I love. But if I had to choose between Knight or Kemba I'd go Knight without thinking to be honest. I really think he could be really good.

I think UNC will win..They are just on a roll and their front court is just too big
If they have Kanter it could be different story but then again,if they had Kanter they could have had #1 seed lol

for me, derrick williams' potential as a prospect is linked with his ability to play SF in the NBA.
He's a tricky player to evaluate.

I am from Turkey and big fan of Enes Kanter. It is easily to be said that he would be top 3 if he had a chance to show himself for the NCAA season. He is 6'10.5 in shoes and 265 pounds with brute strength and thick body. He won the MVP of U16 and U18 Europeanchampionship. Just a quick note, he destroyed the lithunian guy jonas Valanciunas as some mentions he is next Gasol with 35 points and 25 rebounds. He is the youngest player ever played in Euroleageue match when he was 16. He was back up player of Omer Asik of Bulls and Semih Erden.
Some mentions him as Al Horford but i do not agree with that. He is for sure better rebounder and post up player, stronger, taller and has better face up game. Also people try to decide about him as slow and unathletic with one game Nike Hoop Summit in 2010 but this approach is not true either. He is less athletic than Al Horford etc but he is gonna be more athletic than most of the centers in NBA and i believe in him that he can play at PF too. He even interviewed for a Turkish Slam magazine and told that he does not wanna play center but PF. For fitting at this position he told how he improved his shot range and he could make 3 point shots from the college line.
About his knees, he got arthroscopy surgery 2 and half years ago. He didnt play 6 months over it but then after the surgery, he played half season in Fenerbahce his european club.
So, according to me, he can be a good fit to Raptors rather playing as a center or PF with Amir or Andrea. His flaws are not being a help defender or pick n roll defender (even though he is solid one and one defense), not chasing the perimiter guy fast enough ( Matt Boner, Okur, Ryan Anderson etc could be problem for him) and believing in himself so much (like trying to go up to the ball directly instead of boxing out).
Sorry so long post but last he is gonna be double double machine for sure. My guess in his rookie year he can produce 15 points 10 reb easily. Also, after Sullinger taking his name out of draft, he is the only true big man who can play post up and dominate under the rim.

The way you describe him, he sounds more like a Kevin Love than an Al Horford.
It's too bad he sees himself as a Power Forward though, as Center seems too be one of the Raptors biggest weaknesses, where as Power Forward is far from it.
Thanks for posting that though.

^^ he's a lot bigger than Kevin Love though, who is somewhat undersized for a PF. Personally I'm still pretty high on the two C's, and I think if there's anyone with the potential to actually displace Bargs as our starting C, it's Kanter (mainly because he could bring the same go-to scoring without being a liability in terms of defense/rebounding). It will be interesting to see how both Kanter's and Valanciunas' stock moves once the workouts are underway.

I wouldn't mind Kanter, but I'm not a fan of Valanciunas at all.
As for Love, he's listed at 6'9''-6'10'' so yes, Kanter's bigger, but the way he described Kanter made him sound so much like Love.
Good shooter, great rebounder, ability to post up and spot up, decent man to man defense but struggles with help defense and covering the big men who play the perimeter.
Too me this sounds a lot like Kevin Love, although I'm sure at this point Love is much more refined.

Not that it matters but Love's 6'7.75" without shoes and 6.9.5" with shoes. The shoes must have been big

There has to be a way we can get a better judge of International talents. It's terrible that we're still blindly talking about them based on some websites analysis. I wish more of them would try to do what Kanter tried and play NCAA ball before coming to the league.

Sorry if I missed this, but can someone please explain why Val is at number 2 on DX's mock and number 16 on nbadraft.net? Which site has the better international scouting?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Hey guys,
in 6 hours, my Arizona Wildcats will face off against Kemba Walker and the red hot Uconn Huskies. This game is extremely important as not only is it between two great teams, but its for the final four.
It would mean a lot to me if you guys could help support the wildcats and cheer for us.
Go wildcats!
