We received word today from sources close to the situation that Texas bigman Tristan Thompson has signed with an agent and is foregoing his college eligibility. Look for the official announcement to come in the next few weeks. NBADraft.net

I would definitely take Knight over Walker. He's 2 years younger and 3 inches taller.

Wow, if Tristan comes out, this draft gets deep. He's a top-10 grade. Brings great defense, rebounding, and mobility for his size.

Man, I got him being a tougher Al Horford at the next level. His shutdown performance on Derrick Williams I'm sure spurred this decision. He also guarded Perry Jones very well.

Whenever I close my eyes and try to picture which guy we'll end up with, it's always Walker.

How do you guys think Alec Burks compares to DeRozan as a prospect? He's 2 years younger, has same size and seems to have three things that DeRozan doesn't have or didn't have entering the draft: ability to create shots for himself, great first step and excellent lateral quickness.

I only read DraftExpress' scouting reports and it seems like he has everything you want in your SG

- Shot creating ability
- Explosiveness
- Ball handling skills
- Court vision
- Good basketball IQ
- Unselfishness
- Lateral quickness
- Potential at the defensive end
- Great rebounding ability at his position

If Cleveland drops out of the #1 spot, grabbing two of Barnes, Burks, Williams, Kanter and Valanciunas sounds very intriguing imo

It be nice to get a Canadian on this team for the first time.. Tristan Thompson is no slouch either.. wouldn't mind shipping Bargs out for a package that includes a 1st and look to draft the Canadian..

Call me crazy, but Tristan is exactly the type of player you all need. You need physicality and rebounding on your frontline. Tristan brings both. The allure of drafting small point guards and tweeners shouldn't be on your radar, IMO.

I'd love to get him too. Cheering for the local kid sounds more fun than anything that happened this season for us (minus DeRozan dunk contest). But I'm not sure if he can become better than Ed Davis.

It could be worse, haha.. At least it isn't Kanter or Jonas V..

So because he is a Canadian and is "no slouch", we should trade Bargs for the chance to draft him? If he wasn't Canadian would anyone on this board know he exists?

yes, we trade Bargs and his contract to make room for him.. For a team that's rebuilding, we don't need a 10MM BENCH PLAYER on our roster. Plus, he obviously fills needs for us.. him being Canadian is just a bonus.

He fills a need that not only the Raps have, but any team that wants to win at a high level has. Skilled rebounder and great post defender.

Most draft boards I have seen have Tristan in the 18-24 range. Be interesting to see where the Miami (now Chi) pick ends up

Exactly, and i don't see alot of talk of prospect in the 18-24 range in this thread.

Yeah, he's definitely someone I would've considered if we were at the lower-end of the lottery like last year. I'm just a bit concerned that he seems to lack a consistent 3-pt shot right now.

And WTF @ that last possession by Florida

Stop reading draft boards and form your own opinion!! Thanks for making my point.

I guarantee he goes top 12 at the latest.

Get off DraftExpress.

This is why I think it makes sense to trade Davis for a pick in the draft so we can get one of Barnes, Williams, Val., Kanter, and a Walker, Knight.

lol, so i don't blindly get excited about him like you do I'm not forming my own opinion? Maybe it's the fact that he plays the exact same position as our best prospect and our best 2 way player that makes me form my own opinion, and not go gaga because he's born the same place as I am.

Unless you follow that raptors, you would now there is no point in drafting a PF unless the prospect has a significant high ceiling.
