Don't know how Knick fans got the "smartest basketball fans in the world" label from. First everyone whines about the need to get Melo, then we get him and a month later he's being compared to Marbury. Can't have patience with a young team nor with a veteran team trying to make things work...

On my way in, the train was really crowded so some of the passengers got out to let others get out the train. Then the conductor closed the doors and left some of them behind, lol.

The little e-reader that could is about to do even more -- according to a listing on the Home Shopping Network, the Nook Color will get an update next month that brings Flash support and additional apps to the platform. That suggests that we'll finally be seeing Android 2.2 and perhaps an app store of some sort, though HSN isn't spilling the beans right now -- the cable station wants you to tune in at 12AM, 5AM or 9AM (or 12PM, 5PM or 9PM) ET this Saturday to get an exclusive sneak peek at the goods. Yours for just four easy payments of $74.97... which must seem like a tremendous deal compared to HSN's "retail value" of $504.

Update: Barnes & Noble has now made this completely official itself, and confirmed that the update will include email support among other "exciting new applications." Press release is after the break.

just a disclosure, mags asked me to come comment this thread. I don't go chasing all Android related stories.

With that said, congrats even though you should've rooted by now and messed around with a rom or 2. Quite honestly, I wouldn't be thrilled with B&N version of Android/Froyo. I'd imagine they would be restrictive on what apps can be installed. Specifically the Kindle and other book reading apps. I believe B&N is selling the Nook at a loss and hoping to recoup the money lost through sales of digital books.

Either way, I suppose giving users a more complete Android experience is for the best though. I still don't trust B&N though.

FWIW, I have a XOOM and am glad I didn't settle for a non branded HoneyComb tablet. Honeycomb is a pleasure to use. I can use Google books or kindle to read through my book collection. Google Books because I'm a homer. The tabbed browser is great. Soemtimes I'll have 5-8 tabs open and think it's just like a my desktop. Games using the dual core tegra 2 are a pleasure to play. Bad in the sense they are addicting. Maps application is tremendous, as is Google Earth. The new redesigned market makes finding and buying apps much more pleasant. Love the youtube app. Great when watching tv and they either mention a great moment(LJ 4 point play or nique vs jordan dunk contest). I can just use my xoom to look up those videos and watch them right then and there.

The best thing about the XOOM and Honeycomb is flash though. I know some, Jitpal, will swear flash is a buggy experience on Android. Not the case on the XOOM. I can watch entire games from p2p in stunning quality(depending on the feed), without stutter.

Also the Honeycomb browser will sync with your desktop Chrome. This means you can sync your history, bookmarks, search history, and many other things. This unifies the browsing experience. Picking up my tablet, I feel as though I'm still using the same environment.

Of course, all other Google apps are first class. Gmail, Calendar, and talk are all great. Also, Google Music is just around the bend, with digital storage.

With the XOOM falling to $600 for the wifi version, I wouldn't recommend a lesser tablet at this point. IF you can afford the dough for the XOOM, I would say go for it. If you have less and just want to get a taste of what Android has to offer then I'd say get something a little less powerful. All in all, I love my XOOM.
