Ouch.

The older I get, the more i wonder whether team execs bother to ask potential draftees, "Do you even LIKE basketball?". Hasheem is a very nice guy, by all accounts. He's athletic, and he's even a little bit funny. He's good people.

But did anyone bother to ask him if he gives a s**t about the SPORT?

I am doubting it.

Thabeet's D-League numbers from last year: 13.8PPG (50% FG) 11.2RPG 3.2BPG
Dorsey's D-League numbers from last year: 13.3PPG (64.2% FG) 12.0RPG 1.4BPG

:dontknow:

i don't mean to overreact but man i think the dream is over hasheem. the fact that we has a beast in the nbdl last season (but that doesn't even translate into the nba all of the time), and that he is doing even worse in the nbdl this time around. what did he even do last off season?

the fact that he was the 2nd overall pick that memphis drafted and ended up in houston reminds me of stromile swift. he was a bust but right now hasheem could only dream of having a similar career.

Didn't Morey himself state that that was something he prioritizes? He mentioned in the last Sloan conference that story about some scrub who when asked what he wanted to be before the draft answered " a fashion model."
But do you know what they call a fool, who's full of himself and jumps into the path of death because it's cool?

Yeah, that's Marcus Banks you're referring to.

I believe it's also part of the reason we didn't have Jordan Hill rated as high on our draft board.

The Vipers won today.

Thabeet had 14 points (5/10FG 4/4FT), 12 rebounds, 3 blocks and 4 steals in 30 minutes. +/- +8.

Not bad. But then again it's the D-League and those are pretty much the same number he and Dorsey put up last year, so don't get too excited.

any type of positive is still a positive. his first game made people question his desire to even play basketball. at least if he's putting up good numbers like this even in the d league, we have at least a string of hope.

he's good for a 3rd string center. he's able to block shots and rebound with his size. just play him for one whole quarter, he'll foul out but who cares, he'll get 5 blocks and 10 rebounds. hopefully that's enough to give us a small lead in the 4th quarter.

but seriously, 5/5/1blk is the most i expect from him if he's ever nba ready.

None other than Marcus Banks.

Seriously though, I thought they just traded Battier for the pick knowing that Thabeet was a lost cause.

That's pretty good number. If he can't dominate the D-League, there's no hope for him in the NBA.

If he could average those numbers in the NBA, I would be content with letting Yao walk.
