Some absolutely gigantic games in the West tonight.

Anaheim @ Nashville

Columbus @ Phoenix

San Jose @ Los Angeles

Huge win by Nashville tonight. Don't let the 4 goals allowed by Rinne fool you, he was an absolute stud tonight. Two of those goals were 5 on 3, another was a 6 on 5 on a puck that deflected off Suter's skate.

Huge 2 points and none for Anaheim which is huge as well.

Looks like my Oilers are going to end the Flames playoff hopes tonight. Up 3-1 at the end of the 2nd.

Preds on a 6 game winning streak with huge wins over Boston, Detroit, Anaheim and Dallas. Huge game with Vancouver on Tuesday.

Sorry for the delay over the weekend, never had the time to do it until now. All updated.

Well looks like Toronto is pretty much DOA now. Was a good run but Detroit just was too much for them and Miller played like a stud for Barfalo (Buffalo). I really don't want to play Anaheim in the 1st round I think Perry is showing he's a legit top 10 player in the league and that team still has good talent on it with solid goaltending

Bertuzzi with an elbow to the head of Ryan Johnson (who is okay). Led with the elbow, may have even left his skates, and clearly a repeat offender.

Gotta be out the rest of the season, but the fact Johnson is okay will probably lessen it.

Yep, it was dirty. Deserved the five and the game, no excuse for things like that. Don't think he will get the rest of the year, 2-3 games is my guess.

Glad we got the point, sucks to lose to freaking Chicago. boo

After a season full of collapsing in the third, getting two points is huge...even if they did collapse persay. Got the win in overtime, too, which is bigger with that weird tiebreaker in place about shootout wins.

No fine or suspension for Bertuzzi.

Shocking.

Yeah I'm pretty surprised myself. I mean it was a clear head shot, looked intentional as he came in with stick up and bows flying and its Todd freakin Bertuzzi.

Again, the NHL says it wants to get tough on head shots and then chickens out when they can. I don't understand it at all

Yeah I mean I don't get it I was expecting 2-3 at least now nothing hmm guess the only thing I could think of is they feel sorry for us dealing with all the injuries? Either way he got away with a clear elbow to the head.

I can't believe how many Canuks are going down :o I mean it's like there is a curse there. I hope they don't fall too hard would love to see a Canadian team (outside of the Tyrant Leafs) get a cup if not the Wings.

The Kings look like they are done and out with Anze Kopitar done for a long stretch 6-7 weeks so I don't see them wining anything. Hopefuly Buffalo finishes off Toronto tonight and the Hawks get bounced from the playoff's.

Re: Race For The Stanley Cup Playoffs (VAN wins West; DAL 9th)

Post#54 » by WEFFPIM » Wed Mar 30, 2011 3:31 pm

Vancouver claims home ice in the West for the playoffs and is two wins away from the President's Trophy. Far and away the best team in the league this season.

Only movement on a busy day was Dallas climbing to 9th with a shootout loss in Phoenix last night.

Big games in the East tonight as New York (the good one) and Buffalo meet. The Sabres can move to 7th with a win. One team hoping for a Rangers win is Carolina, who sits 9th and meets Montreal tonight. Anaheim and Calgary meet in a must win for the Flames, three points back of Chicago but just 4 games left after tonight.

Shawn Thornton is a warrior. He got his face slashed last night by a blackhawks skate. On the way to getting stitched up they decided to taunt him and call him a pussy, and he went after them, only to be held off by the ref. His legend continues to grow in Boston.

Quite the choke job by the Preds. Up 3-0 in the 2nd and they lose 4-3 in overtime. I hate Barry Trotz. Joel Ward gets more ice time than Colin Wilson, Blake Geoffrion and J.P. Dumont combined. It's like he hates scoring.
