Can't be THAT exaggerated. We had people on here (still have a few, actually) calling him the worst #9 pick of all time, and saying that this is among the biggest errors in Jazz history. By that standard, playing competently should be enough to provoke that feeling.

And anyway, I think he's shown clear signs that he's going to be a damn good player, regardless of where the bar was set coming in.

Can anyone with ESPN insider access give a general idea of how Hayward has progressed on Coach Thorpe's rookie rankings?

Hap--you've never been short on opinions. You don't need Thorpe to tell you how he's doing. He's on a team with CJ the brick Miles, Al J the ball never comes out of the post or my hands for that matter, Paul M thanks the assist but I won't throw the ball to you and R Bell I can still play D so I need 10 shots a night even if I make only 2.

Given the surrounding cast, I think he's doing great with the time he's given. He's starting to get over his reluctance to shoot, he plays a good a D as anyone on the team, he is shooting 45% from both the 3 and in, and he gets rebounds, blocks, steals and assists. He's got a complete game, and he just turned 21! On this team, he's not going to get 10 to 15 shots a night unless Corbin moves him to the SG spot, which may happen next year. Then Hayward will be a real scoring option with a high shooting percentage, better than Korver and right there with Hornacek. He's got the ability to play the SG position at 6'8" tall.

Thorpe's rookie rankings--people actually pay for that? There's just too much disposable income in the hands of people who apparently don't value it.

It's strange that the ONE area that he has complete control over he's doing so poorly.

Free throws.

.693 is terrible for a SG. It's only 75 attempts, but, that's still pretty terrible. I'd think that'd be one area that he'd be excellent at.

He'll get his FT percentage up to 80% or better. It's a combination of nerves and experience.

I'm sure he will. Just saying that's one area he's in control, you'd think he'd be his best there.

Kind of sad that Gordon Hayward will probably have twice as many blocks next season as Boozer had in his entire Jazz career.

Even sadder is Hayward will probably play in twice as many games during the season for one sixth the money.

Boozer is lucky they don't pay him by the game. With that kind of contract, the Jazz could have afforded to resign him!

You are a genius, that is how the CBA should be. Just imagine the money we could have saved on AK and Memo!
