No Country was pretty underwhelming IMO. As far at Tommy Lee Jones movies go, I liked the Valley of Elah much better.

I like Cormac McCarthy, and it was a pretty faithful adaptation of a compelling story, but yeah, it was no Zoolander.

For those of you wondering what the Space Jam box score was:

House of Flying Daggers has two scenes that are as spectacular as anything I've seen on film -- the Echo Game, and the Fight in the Bamboo Forest. Those who have seen it will probably know those scenes instantly. The rest of you need to go get this film on Netflix. Those two scenes by themselves are worth it.

And the follow up, Curse of the Golden Flower is good too.

I love the LOTR franchise, but there are standalone movies I'd put ahead of them in a Best of Decade retrospective. Napoleon Dynamite is probably the definitive movie of the decade, if you think about movies that stick with you in terms of being memorable and/or quotable.

The LOTR movies are a great movie going experience if you watch them in one of the newer cathedral style theaters, but if you're just watching them at home on tv, they're kind of ho hum.

Btw, Best in Show - I could watch it 100 times and enjoy it each time.

I see Dark Knight is on Doc's list, and it's on mine too. Heath Ledger as Joker is one of my favorite movie characters of all time.

Interestingly enough, the original big screen Joker played by Jack Nicholson is also on my fave character's list (although farther down). The scene where he informs the other mobsters that he's taking over the business, kills the guy with the joy buzzer, and mocks Jack Palance is a great scene.

Animal House, Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein for comedy

I always liked Dead Poets Society alot.

Ordinary People is a great movie too. Mary Tyler Moore is UNBELIEVABLE in this movie.

my wife loves Moonstruck (as do I)

never understood the fascination for Godfather movies or Goodfellas.

Shawshank is a great movie.

Only comment on this one is that this story is NOT from The Onion.

Chavez commenting on Mars, capitalism, and imperialism got me thinking. Hmm ...

How wrong would it be to take out Chavez and to get Venezuela's oil cheaply?

I had a thought about paying well over $4 a gallon at the pump for gasoline these days. Venezuelan gas is really cheap. And Chavez? He wants to blame capitalism for ending life and all. I"m just saying. :)

DISCLAIMER: Humor only. I do not advocate unrighteous acts of violence, assassination, imperialism, etc. Just thought gas sure is high and so, apparently, is Chavez.

This is why soccer has a reputation for having soft players who pretend to have injuries and act like drama queens. To make matter worse, he gets carted onto the stretcher by a buncha women.

Racing Club de Ferrol's goal celebration over the weekend took an unexpected turn when Rafa Casanova suddenly fell to the ground.

The team came together for a group hug to celebrate a goal in their Spanish fourth division match when Rafa's teammate accidentally hit him in the eye.

Rafa fell to the ground and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher. Scroll down to watch the video.
