If a team gave Chuck Hayes a HUGE 1 year contract...

Post#1 » by koogiking » Tue Mar 29, 2011 2:00 pm

would he leave? Would Houston let him go?

Lets say a team like the NY Knicks gave Chuck Hayes a 1 year 10 million dollar contract, would Houston match that? would Chuck leave for that?

How much do you think he is worth?

Then that team is stupid as **** (Clippers, T-Wolves) and goodbye Chuck. I think he will get a contract like Lowry got.

trust me
no one will give him more than the MLE
not everyone in this league is willing to offer that much for defensive player
ben wallace is the only exception
that's why detroit let him go to chicago

he's not going to get much, I can see the Heat offering him a contract if they can't find any strong defensive players. Pat Riley is a big fan of guys like Chuck, and especially with the way he's capable of possibly slowing down guys like KG, Amar'e, etc.

Les Alexander and Chuck Hayes had dinner together so that's a good sign he'll be back.

"I had dinner with Chuck Hayes," Alexander said. "He mentioned, 'We all know what we're doing now. We all know what to do; we're doing the right thing at every part of the game, which makes us a very tough team to beat.'
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Having a nice paycheck now with promises of future front office positions is a nice enticement / alternative to needing the big payout now. I'm sure Chuck's not a sit-around-all-day kind of guy.

WE BETTER RE-SIGN CHUCK

i could see teams like the knicks, nets or heat make offers, but the knicks would probably only offer a one year deal to keep capspace for 2012, the nets suck and want capspace in 2012 too, and we can match any offer the heat make

i don't know who else would make offers, let alone anything more than the mle to a 6'6'' c/pf...maybe a bad team like cleveland that doesn't attract big names??

also i'm sure houston holds chuck in higher regard than any team in the league

I dunno, if Chuck continue to play like this he might get a pretty nice contract in the off season. I'm hoping for a deal similar to Landry 3/9

That'd be mostly liveable. Not the greatest for a 2/3 string center, mind you, but liveable. As long as he's in the 2-3.5m range. Past that, and his deficiencies start to stick out a bit much..

Chuck Hayes is not a restricted free agent so in all likelyhood Chuck Hayes would sign as quickly as possible. If he weren't then no the Rockets would no match.
