Did the cats just give a brief scouting report on Kanter  Sounds like the elite scouts are all over this article now.

I just can't help but feel we're in for an exciting year if we draft Perry. I can picture him starting a fastbreak after a rebound and tossing an alley-oop to Derozan while we go "Oh ****!!!" in his rookie game. You just don't get a lot of chances to get a guy like Perry - 6'11 and more athletic than anyone with guard skills and instincts.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

A more athletic Antawn Jamison was my comparison.

Josh Harrelson sounds like the world's greatest teammate. He's talking both those guys up! He might be worth drafting just to give some of our guys a confidence boost.

I'm really intrigued about Perry J. But I have concerns as well. Once workouts get going we'll all have a better view where he stands. Same with Dwill/Knight.

I'll be honest, that article about Kanter made me feel a hell of a lot better about him.

I know they're his teammates but Knight and Harrellson were talking about him like he would've been the best big man in college if he played.

Yeah it definitely sounds reassuring. I still feel combine measurements will be real important for him though.

If Kanter plays below the rim, I want to know how good his footwork is. If he has good footwork, I don't mind him being selected as the fifth pick.

If Kanter is a legit NBA C in height/length, IMO he leapfrogs all of the combos and tweeners.

Id pass on Kanter. A big guy with knee issues at that age is a red flag.

I know this has been posted but I saw some people wondering where they heard Enes saying that he wants to be a forward. Harrelson also talks about Kanter in the video. Hopefully Enes was just trying to be nice by not stealing Harrelson's position 8-) . A frontcourt of T-Jones-Kanter-Harrelson would've been pretty dominant in the post.

Thanks for posting these. Great reads, both. I honestly haven't seen Kanter play at all, so I can't really comment on him, but Knight's combination of upside, work ethic and character is pretty tempting.

“He is one of the most conscientious, hard-working players that I have been around,” Calipari said.

The work ethic that drives Knight to excel on the court is the same one that pushes him to excellence in the classroom. He was a 4.3 student at Pine Crest High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and he made straight A's in his first semester at UK.

Last week at an NCAA Tournament news conference, Calipari said Knight was angry with a 91 he scored in a sociology class, a score that still earned him an A. As Calipari recounted Knight's disappointment, teammate Terrence Jones leaned in close to Knight and whispered with a smile, “Nerd.”

He had tendonitis in his knees at the age of 16, had arthroscopic surgery done and has been good since.

I don't think it's that big of an issue but the med staff will have to earn their pay on this one. Considering the Raps have historically been sheepish about prospects with injuries I don't think anyone should be worried. If there are any red flags we won't draft him.

Personally I don't think he's a big man, he's a wing... if he checks out as having the elite athleticism/speed they say he does (it certainly looks like it), and projects to be able to defend on the perimeter, his upside is tremendous at the 3. I think the fact that he was played out of position this year has hurt his stock (which could be to our benefit). Teams seem to want to turn him into some sort of super-skilled big man because of his size, but I think his true position is on the wings. Here's a writeup of him from '09:

Strengths: Has incredible length for a wing player – has a 7’2.5” wingspan ... His NBA position is definitely on the wing as his perimeter skills - notably ball handling, lateral foot speed and athleticism - are phenomenal ... He can shoot the three, or pull up off the dribble, but is much better when attacking the basket ... He loves to work from the top of the key and take his man off the dribble, getting into the lane where he can use his size ... He has a tendency to take on two and three defenders at a time but is great at initiating contact and squaring up for one-handed runners and floaters to finish near the rim, when he's not throwing down highlight dunks ... Jones shows an aggressiveness and emotional fire that scouts like to see in players with this much potential.

Weaknesses: He sometimes tries to do too much, which at the high school level is completely fine because of his talent ... However, as he grows up and plays at higher levels he will have to learn to work with his teammates and improve his basketball IQ in this area if he expects to be a star ... He is special with the ball in his hands but isn't all that helpful when that's not the case ... His length makes him intimidating on defense but he doesn't give maximum effort on this side of the ball ... He will often coast on plays, standing on the three-point line waiting for the ball ... He can shoot from the perimeter but isn’t yet consistent ... Is expected to play a good deal in the post in his senior year at Duncanville, so his development on the perimeter (his long term position is small forward) will likely come in college ...

Notes: At the 2009 AAU Tournament when asked who was better, Tony Wroten or Perry Jones, University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino said, "Perry is the best pro prospect here [in Vegas]."

Assuming all four are still on the board for our pick, and BC wants to go with a small forward, who's the man, pre-workouts?

Barnes? Perry? T. Jones? D-Will?

Not if he doesn't rely on explosiveness and is coming off an extended recovery period, I don't think. I mean, I don't care about Kendrick Perkins' knee issues.

EASILY Barnes, but that's one man's opinion.

I have no idea, honestly, but I'd take Terrence Jones out of that equation. He certainly hasn't risen to the occasion in the tournament thus far.
