What do you guys think of this Odd Future revolution? I've known of them for awhile now and it's awsome that they're getting attention but it just seems they're getting a little overhyped now. Tyler on twitter is hilarious though

Love it. They've got the old school EM, "I don't give a F" attitude that I love. They've got a unique sound, they are nice lyrically, and aren't afraid to say anything. They need to get Earl back though. I think he's easily the best rapper out of all of them.

I really want to see these kids live. Based on what I've seen on youtube and when they were on Fallon, they put on a hell of a show.

Don't love em but don't hate em either. It's weird, some buddies of mine that are really into heavy metal etc. were the first ones that I knew were into em, way before I or most social media sites had heard of em and gave it a try. Just can't seem to have a solid liking for em, not "my" type of hip hop but at the same time I do hold a good appreciation for heavy rap music like Snowgoons or JMT tracks. I just think its their explicit personalities, marketing, and lyrical content ESPECIALLY at the age that they are doing this at. Most of the members do have their own distinguishable identity which is good, it'll be interesting to see how they fair after a few years. Tyler's twitter is indeed hilarious though and my friends that introduced me to them went to a show about a month ago in NY and said it was off the hook

Todays rap is hard for me to accept. My favorite group is far and away Jedi Mind Tricks.
I think Vinnie Paz is one of the best rappers out there
Nobody mentioned a rapper named APATHY who is sick as hell.

Esoteric, Ghostface Killah, DZK on soundclick, Krumbz from Jersey are all great rappers.

Saigon is tight..

Tech Nine is an all time great as well.

O.C. is good.

But yeah...I stick to what got me through so far and most of that is starting to be considered classic at this point. Tribe Called Quest.

Them Odd Future dudes are weird as hell but they are pretty nice. Earl is by far the best like someone pointed out. The dude Frank Ocean released an amazing RnB album recently.

As far as the newer rappers, I suggest you guys check out Big Krit (if you can get passed his southern drawl). He's a young up and coming rapper/producer out of Mississippi. When you hear of a rapper from Miss, you probably immediately think of garbage meaningless lyrics and stuff, but this guy is the real deal. Raps about life.

Hot damn! May has been a great month for music. I got to listen to the new Blue Scholars album yesterday, Cinematropolis and let me tell you it is EARGASMIC. I recommend grabbing your best set of headphones, sparking a j, and giving it a listen( if you have or can grab the advanced copy, otherwise it comes out next month)

yeah I just hate that he drops most of his stuff in 128 kbps, I am an audiophile so its loseless/320 or bust!(in this day and age of music) although 256 is acceptable :p

Didn't like it, I really liked the production but Blu really half-assed the **** out of the mic, barely any substance to the lyrics, and his flow/delivery really made me uninterested. Standout track for me was doowop and Jesus was pretty good.Lucky was a 4 minute waste of an awesome beat.. not to mention he's selling this for $10!

Meek Mill is finally getting some real praise nationwide. The general consensus is that he outshined everyone on Self Made. Although it's pretty obvious that Wale is far and away the best rapper on that album.

I can't stand anyone in MMG except Wale and it's even hard to listen to his new tracks now since one of those guys are most likely gonna hop on the track.

Lupe album was a big dissapointment too, nowhere close to his first two albums nor does it have the replayability. He had an autotune track even though the hook and beat was nice, some (Please Use More Appropriate Word) synthy club **** in 1 song, think it was called I dont wanna care and a Trey Songz feature :S (even though that song is indeed catchy).

Can't wait for Food and Liquor 2 though, word is that Atlantic won't have any creative interference with the album.

edit: Not to mention no Matthew Santos except in Shining Down which was an old ass track and cut out of the final album anyway! (Sorry for the Lupe rant but he's my favorite artist and it was a huge downer to hear Lasers for the first time especially when he murdered Enemy of the State and SLR)

Yeah, Lasers was an even bigger disappointment than Blueprint III for me. Tension, considering that Lasers sold just under 400,000 copies, I'm willing to bet Atlanta will interfere once again once Lupe starts recording for F&L 2. I mean their formula "worked" as far as they're concerned. Why wouldn't they just do the same thing. Lupe fans that went out and copped Lasers actually hurt Lupe as an artist.

The Big Sean album is really good. Wasn't a big fan of his before, but the production on the album is too good to be ignored.
