It's probably safe to assume that it will be during the 2011 Western Conference Finals, and that this could be a great night for the teams that move up into those top three slots. During the NBA Draft Lottery, only the top three spots are up for grabs, and then every other team falls into order based on their 2010-11 records.

Am I missing something?

That's pretty much how it works.

Why isnt the 4th\5th spot up for grabs?

Honestly, I don't know for sure, but there's a lot of logical reasons for why it's set-up this way.

Today Myck Kabongo played his most important game of the season. He not only played absolutely terrible, but his attitude on the court looked awful as well.

Raptor Jesus. Stroke of genius on the Avatar. Change your name to MANMACHINE.
I feel like Cartman in the Wii episode - not to objectify these fine, beautiful bodies.

Sorry missed that one.

If There is no Irving, no Barnes, no Williams on the board then BC takes Jones III and then Kanter. I think he'll trade for Flynn and completely pass on guards in this draft. Another possibility is he picks the power forward player another team likes and does a draft night deal.

The lottery is only for the top 3 spots. After that all the teams are put into order record-wise, starting with the worst records. Its pretty straightforward. Considering how many years we were in the lottery, I thought all of our fans would have known that by now. :)

Game was not Thursday, first of all. Secondly, Kabongo embarrassed his defenders at a steady rate. His handles, quickness, court vision, and passing ability are great

I didn't realize Harrison Barnes grew up in Iowa. They get winters similar to Toronto so that's kind of a plus. Same goes for Kyrie Irving who grew up in New Jersey. Kemba Walker grew up in the Bronx so he's used to cold winters and big cities too.

Derrick Williams is a California kid and Brandon Knight is from Florida. Perry Jones is from Louisiana but went to school in Texas.

So, there's a solid mix of high lottery talent from cold weather climates and warm weather. It probably won't make a big difference either way but I imagine the transition to Toronto life wouldn't be as shocking or scary for Barnes, Irving or Walker.

Uhh, Findley played on Thursday and is now out of the playoffs. Their season is over.
Myck had 2 points and 3 rebounds.

I'll make an excuse for him. He was probably pretty wiped out from the week. He probably enjoyed the attention a bit too much and of course he's still a kid who seems to wear his emotions on his sleeve (re: the body language). Looked that way during the McDonald's game anyway.

The Raptors need to avoid Kemba Walker and go for Knight if they are taking a guard and Kyrie is gone. Kemba Walker is fools gold, a good NCAA player but will have much difficulty in the NBA.

Knight over Walker. It will be an interesting game this Saturday. If Knight can get to the finals I think he's warranted himself a top 5 selection in this years draft. If he can win the tourny... oh boii..

Kentucky sadly. Coach Cal is winning this year and next year if any of their freshmen stay.

I have Knight ahead of Walker as well. Actually, Kemba's not even in my top 5. Undersized, junior and hasn't shown much of his passing game.

It's not one flag but a couple of flags that don't make me a fan. I'd be dissapointed if he were our pick. My guess is he'll always be a much better college player than a pro. Knight might not be all that great either but all the tools are there and he does need to polish his passing game but at least he doesn't have the perceived low ceiling of a guy like Kemba.

Hopefully Knight can end this debate on Saturday, should be a great game.

There are way too many variables to say that Kentucky would win next year. Keep in mind that Kentucky didn't win when they had a better recruiting class in 2009. Recruits don't always pan out as they should and Cal isn't the best coach to begin with.
Additionally, think of how frequently the best teams don't win the tournament. Zero 1 or 2 seeds this year made the final four.

I guess you should never make predictions then because anything could happen...
