Heh, I think that we need the updated logo for Bluefield (edit: apparently I can't hotlink it, boo).

For those who care about such things, Sal Fasano has jumped all the way to New Hampshire in his second year as a minor league manager (he was with Lansing last year). Guessing that he'll find himself as a bench coach in the bigs within 2-3 years.

I'll update it once I can find a good picture of the new logo.

There's one on the MiLB site, but it's embedded; I can't lift it unless I take a print-screen. Even Wikipedia doesn't have a logo for them, just a field of white.

yeah i remember hearing about that.. From the interviews I've listened of Sal, he seems like a very intelligent guy. So what's going to happen with Luis Rivera? On wikipedia, it says: "On November 10, 2010, Rivera joined the Blue Jays coaching staff, when he was named a coaching assistant". I wonder what that entails..

They introduced Rivera as an assistant head coach yesterday but didn't say what his role is.

They have Lawrie, Thames, Cooper & Stewart all listed at NH and not at Las Vegas. I thought these guys were in AAA right now.

The rosters haven't been finalized at this point; the minor league season doesn't begin until the 7th, so it'll be a couple days before the official versions are up.

Some interesting tidbits:

Zach Stewart back in AA.
Farina in AA
Deck, Wojo in A+.
All catchers move up one level.

Stewart in NH makes some sense...getting sinkers to grab can be bloody difficult at altitude.

Carreno is going to be one to watch in the Fisher Cats rotation as well; at 24 and on the 40-man, they're going to want to move him fairly quickly now, and he has serious stuff. If he's blocked out of the rotation, he could have a long future as a reliever with his filthy K/BB ratio and ability to keep the ball in the park.

We're being quite aggressive with Asher Woj starting him in A+. I like.

None of the high school pitchers (Sanchez, Syndergaard, Murphy, the other 112 of them) will start in full-season. Not wholly shocking, given their ages.

Gus Pierre, despite having an off-year in 2010, will be given a chance to play full-season in Lansing.

I really like keeping Stewart in AA instead of AAA. Pitching in Vegas may destroy his confidence

Our AAA pitching staff is older than our MLB pitching staff. That tells you everything you have to know about our AAA team/ballpark.

How long can we continue with Las Vegas without it hurting the development of our prospects?

As I said in a previous Drabek thread, I don't mind the Double-A to Majors promotion for pitchers or hitters as long as the club feels they are ready. Between Walton and Farrell, it might be more beneficial for pitchers to develop with the MLB club rather than the AAA club/environment. So Stewart to AA is fine with me. Whether he comes up as a closer or starter I don't think missing AAA will do him any harm.
