MLB The Show 11

Post#1 » by Dirty Water » Wed Mar 23, 2011 3:02 pm

Anyone play? I tried posting this in Media Lounge and no one responded.

The analog hitting is a bit tricky, but other than that it's mostly a roster update. If you don't have 10 tho, I'd get this in a heartbeat. Easily the best baseball franchise and therefore the best baseball game of all time.

I've had it for a couple weeks and I'm still having timing issues with the pure analog hitting. As lame as it is, I like to stick with the timing-style batting.

I've got a franchise going with the Marlins right now and a player in RTTS.

I'll probably get this game pretty soon.

I've given up on the analog hitting. Just too hard. I'm having trouble hitting with my RTTS player as it is.

The replay value I get out of this game usually just comes down to playing people online/ leagues etc.

One of the things that I love about the game is how customizable it is. Especially the sounds/soundtrack. I've uploaded most of my music to my PS3, and have included some stuff in my Sounds of the Show. For instance I edited Papelbon so his entrance music is Joan Jett's-Wild Thing (Like in Major League), Mariano's as Enter Sandman. And the pre-game warmup music before a game to John Fogerty's classic "centerfield." And plenty of other things like Sweet Caroline in the middle of the eighth and Dirty Water after a win at Fenway Park. The music is not just playing, it's actually being distorted to sound like it's coming in through the PA system at the ballpark. It sounds so authentic it's unbelievable.

I downloaded the demo and you're right, its MLB 10 with a roster update. I will get it when it drops to like $30 later in the year, but I can't justify spending $60 on this at the moment. And I'll stick to timing hitting, tried pure analog and I gave up very quickly.

Been playing the better part of the last 48 hours. Pure analog is a trick...and I'm still in AA...still haven't implemented the zone aspect. My first RTTS player I retired after 2013...I was making Carlos Gomez looking like a silver slugger. Just began a new RTTS with a different stance (Doumit), really helped my timing .400 after the first month. Although I think I'm guessing the pitch and location more than the first go 'round...that's helping. Are the pitchers 'smart'? as in if you keep hacking at the first pitch, they'll start throwing first pitches out of zone? Took me forever to figure out how to hit the cutoff man too. Toyed with season play...yet to touch franchise or God forbid online play. I'm hooked though. The player customization is nuts. Livin' the dream!

I've found the AI does pick up on stuff like that, DTribbs. If you're a hacker, they'll start throwing you more and more garbage.

I guess if/when I stop hacking, I'll find out for myself. My pitch recognition is getting a little bit better, but I'm still elated when I try and swing at a pitch but my player is forced out of the box because it's at my friggin dome. I refuse to go to the classic timing option as it would be a direct admission of failure. The analog is there. So, for better or worse, I'm using it, but my esteem needs a break from my K ratio. When up grading the batting sliders and personal attributes, does it actually make the game easier? I can see how personal speed, power, and stuff like that is a direct physical aid, but the other stuff like eg discipline and what not...is that/those just an indication of a human players skill level and marker for advancement?

Only tricky part is uploading the music to the PS3, Sounds of the Show makes it easy implementing the music in the game.

Plug your iPod or disk drive into the USB and follow these instructions.

Still need to get. Played 08 a few years ago. It was great but I had a hard time hitting the ball properly.
