Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
A lot of mocks have Jordan Hamilton slipping to where we would be able to get him with our NO pick around #18/#19. I would not reach for him at #10. Unless he makes a strong move at the Draft Camp, I really think we can get him with our 2nd 1st rounder. And that would be very nice.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
several Notes
1. This years draft class is exceedingly weak. However there are at least 5 guys who could have a decent impact in the nba immediately, they are:
a. Derrick Williams
b. Kyrie Irving
c. Kemba Walker
d. Jajuan Johnson
e. Harrison Barnes (if he chooses)
f(opt). Enes Kanter
2. 2012 and 2013 each have giants of their own, who should have a huge impact
2012
a. Austin Rivers
b. James McAdoo
c. Lebryan Nash
d. Sullinger
e. Anthony Davis (~)
f. Michael Gilchrist
ect.
2013
a. Andre Drummond (the super prospect)
(PS ANY DRAFT THAT HAS A GUY WHO IS COMPARED TO RON ARTEST GOING AT 10 & A GUY COMPARED TO JASON KID GOING AT 12 IS A DEEP DRAFT!)
3. We should move players for higher picks in the 2012 and 2013 drafts.
4. We HAVE to get someone in FA, whether it be CP3, Marc Gasol, or a guy like Shannon Brown...

Chad Forde has Hamilton going 12, and for the most part most other mocks have him quickly moving up the board as well. I would be VERY surprised if he was there anywhere close to 18 or 19. We would likely have to pick him at 10 or not pick him at all.

I would trade both picks to move up and draft either Derrick Williams or Kanter.

It's Shannon Brown that doesn't fit! I win!

I would like to see us draft Knight. PG is the most impactful position in the NBA. I think Knight has the most potential upside of the PGs in this draft. He is only 18! Would like to see this team rebuilt to be long like OKC he would fit that mold with Hendo and TT, see his upside equal to Westbrook. Again, he is only 18!

If Knight is so good, why was nobody talking about him for the first 3 months of the season?

Um, because no one really knew how good he is until now. The NCAA Tourney shows how good a player really is!

He had buzz before the year, and expectations were high. You're right, he was considered a disappointment until the tournament.
Everyone saw him hit the game winning shot two games in a row in the tourney, what most people don't know is he also hit a last second game winning 3 pointer in the 2010 McDonald's All American game to beat an East team led by Harrison Barnes. The kid has steel balls and is a competitive SOB. He will be an outstanding team leader who will never lack for confidence. The rest will come. He's only 18.

Knight reminds me of Jennings - and not in a good way.

Re: 2010/11 NCAA Game Thread/Prospects Watch
My earlier post does not mean I personally didn't know about him.
I caught wind of him last year when he was going back and forth with Kyrie, Barnes, and Jones for the #1 overall prospect spot. Hell, I remember him when he had long hair!!
The fact of the matter is, when players don't make a splash on the national scene until the tournament, it means two things: people jump all over his nuts from 2-5 games, not realizing that the season is 30+ games long. It just raises too many question marks for me.
Knight, Skeen this year
Hayward, Pullen, Crawford, Butler, etc. last year
You rarely see a player gain notoriety for the playoffs only and make something of it in the league.

meanwhile do you guys look at Draft Express? Their mock has us taking TJones at 11, Markieff Morris at 20 and Malcolm Lee at Rd 2/11. Yikes!

That's not very bad at all. It's looking like our range of players is going to be:
Terrence/Kawhi/Hamilton or Burks/with our first pick
Nolan Smith/Josh Selby or Travis Leslie/Singleton with the second
Malcom Lee/Ben Hansbrough/Klay Thompson with the third
We have a ton of options at those slots and, if we do our jobs, can come out with a solid crop of wing players for the future.

Valid point. I would never have advocated drafting anyone you mention except Knight. I see how someone could compare him to Jennings. I also don't feel I see Knight as The One. In fact he shot KU out of the game on Sat, so I recognize the risk. I guess I see the dreaded upside based on his physical and mental tools: excellent size, balls, alpha male mentalitiy & age. I would like to see CHA have a player profile in mind and stockpile those players: long, two way players. I see Knight as a piece that would fit nicely on the floor with Hendo and TT. I see DJ as Knight's floor and Westbrook as his ceiling.
I look at your all*team and would LOVE to have DWill as our PG but believe its never going to happen in our market. I would build our team around Curry in a second, and would trade pretty much anybody GS wanted to get him here, but do we even have enough to offer GS? I see Knight as an upside gamble that could impact us in the short term like Jrue Holiday and in the long term like Westbrook. I'm advocating him as someone not a savior, like some see Kemba, (I don't), but someone worth the risk at 8-10.

Agreed. Despite my post about Knight I too would be happy with many of these players, especially Hamilton, and would also like to see Tyler Honeycutt and Reggie Jackson on the list. Its the if we do our jobs part of your post and Draft Express saying Markieff Morris (PF!) that makes me nervous

Just to be clear, I'm also not saying Knight won't be good. I think he has all the physical tools necessary to be a good ball player with his size, intelligence, and ability to score the ball in a variety of ways. I just don't want people to get ahead of themselves with the "flavor of the month".

Looking at their mock, I would rather go:
#11 - Terrence Jones
#20 - Tyler Zeller
#41 - Jordan Williams
nbadraft.net has us taking
#11 - Kawhi Leonard
#20 - Kenneth Faried
#41 - Marshon Brooks
but I would rather go:
#11 - Terrence Jones
#20 - Jordan Williams
#41 - Marshon Brooks
