TX High School players in NBA
Chris Bosh
LaMarcus Aldridge
Shaq
Deron Williams
Kendrick Perkins
Damion James
Chris Andersen
Tony Battie
Jeff Foster
Mike Harris
CJ Miles
Anthony Randolph
Quinton Ross
Kurt Thomas
Ben Uzoh
Von Wafer
Darrell Arthur
Ike Diogu
Wesley Johnson
Acie Law
Kenyon Martin
Jason Maxiell
Edjuardo Najera
Brian Skinner
Willie Warren

Houston-area HS players in NBA
Rashard Lewis
Emeka Okafor
TJ Ford
Daniel Gibson
DJ Augustin
DeAndre Jordan
Ronnie Price
Hasheem Thabeet
Cartier Martin
John Lucas

TX Starting 5:
Deron WIlliams
CJ Miles
LaMarcus Aldridge
Chris Bosh
Emeka Okafor

vs

CA Starting 5
Russell Westbrook
Jason Kidd
Paul Pierce
Brook Lopez
Tyson Chandler
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

Well you forgot
Stephen Jackson
Grant Hill
Wesley Matthews
Dexter Pittman

My TX Starting 5
Deron Williams
Stephen Jackson
Rashard Lewis
Chris Bosh
LaMarcus Aldridge

My CA Starting 5
Russell Westbrook
DeMar DeRozan
Paul Pierce
Kevin Love
Brook Lopez

My NY Starting 5
Johnny Fynn
Ben Gordon
Ron Artest
Lamar Odom
Joakim Noah

My IL Starting 5
Derrick Rose
Dwayne Wade
Andre Iguodala
Shawn Marion
Kevin Garnett

It was surprising to me how disappointing the NY team was. And both NY and IL were surprisingly shallow. CA had the most depth, but TX has the most balance. I'd go with TX (of course).

Pittman I meant to include in the Houston-area team but forgot.

Stephen Jackson and Grant Hill may have been born in Texas but they went to HS in Virginia.
Wesley Matthews was born in San Antonio but went to HS in Wisconsin.
Kevin Love is from Oregon not CA.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

I'll give you Grant Hill. But Stephen Jackson is from Port Arthur, he even has it tattooed on his arm. He just went to Oak Hill so that doesn't really count. That's like saying T-Mac is from NC. And Wesley Matthews went to Madison in SA, not Wisconsin. And I was just tryna make the CA team a little more interesting. They don't have much big man depth. As far as talent is concerned, we're definitely the deepest team.

Matthews' high school was in Wisconsin not Texas. that's why he went to marquette for college.

Parade has their All-American hoops players in today's issue
only 4 texas players, none on their first team

D'Angelo Harrison from Dulles HS (MissouriCity/Houston) 6'3" guard commited to St Johns
LeBryan Nash from Lincoln HS (Dallas) 6'7" forward committed to OK State
Devonta Abron from Seagoville HS (near Dallas) 6'8 forward/center commited to Arkansas
Julien Lewis from LaMarque HS (near Houston) 6'4 guard commited to Texas

at least one of them is staying in the state for college.

Also on the list Myck Kabongo, incoming UT Freshman 6'3" point guard stud. He's another Canadian like Tristan and Cory.
Harden is still a work-in-progress. He can score, but he can't help his teammate that much - Yao Ming

You were right about his HS being in WI. I thought it was the James Madison in San Santonio. 2 players from my high school (Cy Springs) went to Marquette also, so that doesn't really mean anything. But yes, you are right. :)

Texas is one of the best states that produces athletes in all the major sports(football, Basketball, and baseball). It is our best export

i'm sure it has nothing to do with texas being the 2nd highest population state in the country

No Hall of Fame again for Guy Lewis (89 years old)
but they voted in Tex Winter (also 89 years old)
who had some success as a college head coach (2 Final 4s) but nearly not as much as Lewis (5 Final 4s)

Tex was the Houston Rockets head coach for 2 years (his only pro head coaching job)
but the rest of his NBA coaching career was as an assistant with the Bulls and Lakers
Even though he never coached in the NBA, I think Lewis should have made it in instead of Winter.

Not to be nitpicky, but...

Sam Barry of USC invented the triple post. Tex Winter played for Barry in the 40s and refined it at K-State.

Lewis create the stage in which the the Final Four is played now. Taking his games to the Astrodome and also was one of the first to recruit black people in the south or at least I heard that. It is BS and not sure why they will not vote Guy Lewis in

drove into houston for the games this weekend (stayed at a hotel downtown..i cant wait till this semester's over and i move back cuz i miss houston..and met ralph sampson, kareem abdul jabbar, dennis rodman, and chris mullins who were all stayin at my hotel) and had to drive back to austin for class this morning right after last night's shi**y game...........but anywayssss

kemba finally made me a believer, and my dad made a great comparison of what he could be in the pros...bobby jackson

though terrance jones was completely underwhelming and should stay in college another year or two, if he (god-willing) somehow falls to us i would take him

butler sucks, but i was rooting for them(only because i hated the other teams and i have a bulldog too haha)..but matt howard is a hard worker but sucks and shelvin mack will be a bench player imo

AND...i know he really doesn't fill a need but if he goes undrafted (or if we buy a very late second rounder) i want us to invite jamie skeen from vcu to our summer camp...6'9'', can shoot the three, and can play somewhat with his back to the basket

i don't know if he would make it, but for some reason i like his game

ALSO..i saw yao ming at papadeaux, and his ankle is still ridiculuously swollen...i pray he comes back, but that ankle confirmed my fears

Wow that sounded like a great weekend. That UConn team was huge if person weren't they?

Yeah, the Bobby Jackson comparison makes a lot of sense. I was saying a Jason Terry, sixth man, spark off the bench but still finishes the game cause he's big in the clutch kind of player.

BTW, where did you sit and how much did the tickets cost? I took my nephews to the all-star game on Friday and with it being free we got to sit pretty close to the court, and I was wondering how much those seats cost during the actual Final 4.

^^^it cost a little over $800 for the four of us, so about $200 per person....but what we did was paid to put our name in this "raffle" type thing, where if we got the seats they kept our $200, and if we got the seats they kept it...also it gave us free passes to the george r. brown convention center, it had a bunch of kids games and showcases all weekend

and the seats we got for $200 a person were in section 516...and if you've been to reliant you know that those are high up...they weren't horrible and i could see the game very well but they were high enough that while kentucky was playing i couldn't tell any of the players apart except by number (other than harrelson haha) because they're all close to the same size and build

but it was definetely worth it, i'm going to put my name in it again for next year in nola...it was a badass weekend...i miss houston already :(

*edit-if we got the seats they kept our money, if we didn't they gave most of it back

ya uconn was huge...i think oriachi is the only player in the ncaa that they list his height SHORTER than his actual height(not really but dude is a big man and so is okwandu)

and ya jason terry's a spot on comparison to kemba...i just don't like to mix mavs/spurs/jazz players in comparisons with players i like haha
