Sloan was with the Jazz organization for decades, building and running his system.
I see him as one of the great coaches of all time, BUT this makes me wonder how quickly he would become effective. He has a whole system, type of players, philosophy, to where he would either have to come into the right organization, or have time to work with the FO to adjust the roster, etc.
So yeah, somewhere like Boston I could see him coming in and being able to work with that roster pretty well. But here, I think he'd be pretty far out of his element. Well, he's used to working with great point guards but even that, we don't know how long Nash will be around. I just think our roster would be kind of a nightmare and he'd demand changes as a condition of being brought on board. Which would be great, but I dunno if Sarver buys into changing up the whole system again.

Re: Jerry Sloan
Sloan, meh. Dictator coaches hardly work out, and we don't have nearly the personnel to do what he wants.

He's old and he might prefer working with a sure contender if ever he returns to coaching. Maybe LA/BOS as you guys have mentioned.

Re: Jerry Sloan
I don't agree with you on this one CK. Nash isn't the hard nosed defensive type guy, no, but he's the kind of guy that will do everything the coach asks, and he gives 100% on defense always. You don't ever see him slacking, because he's just got that killer instinct, and that's what Sloan wants from his players, complete 100% effort at all times. If they give the effort and their man happens to score, he's fine with that.
Sloan would be an awesome coach, but we need to work on fixing personnel before we get into coaching. Remember, Gentry took us to the WCF and a couple games away from the Finals when he had a properly composed team, and even then we lacked a fricking center.
