ESPN Power Rankings Week 1: Jays 8th.. Bosox 7th?!?!?!?

http://espn.go.com/mlb/powerrankings/_/ ... 011/week/1

Boston Red Sox 7 (0) Red Sox 0-3 Hey, at least they finished the weekend with one more strikeout than home runs given up. The pitching can only get better
(Troy Patterson: Fire Brand of the American League).

Toronto Blue Jays 8 (0) Blue Jays 2-1 The early home runs from Jose Bautista are nice, but three walks in three games -- including one in a big spot Sunday against Joe Nathan -- suggests a player whose new contract and leadership role haven't changed the patient approach he needs to succeed

Would love if you or someone else could continue to post the power rankings each Tuesday.

Well, they're naturally presuming that the Red Sox are better than their opening series would suggest, and that we're unlikely to score in excess of seven runs/game. Power rankings tend to be a mixture of expected performance + actual performance early in the year, so it makes sense that they didn't panic and drop 'em to the bottom of the league.

Well said, which means 8th will likely be the highest we get unless we sweep the A's.

It's three games. It would have been much stupider if they put the Sox below the Jays.

I figured the Jays would dominate the next three series against AL West teams, but Bautista's absence will hurt.

Lol at Yankees ahead of Phillies too.

I can't wait to watch the Red Sox miss the playoffs after their huge spending spree.

Yeah I never get riled up over power rankings. They should definitely take more into consideration than just the previous week. In this case, our team is doing pretty well to be ranked top 10.
