Let me wax poetic on our resident Clyde the Glyde lookalike, who's got Jordan's competitive drive, and played surprisingly well at the PG position after Wall got thrown out. Dude has no fear, is smart, and has a hilarious herky jerky style that's fun to watch. Oh, and props to EG for getting him for a bag of sweaty laundry and a side order of fries.

This is pretty hilarious, this wariness where Crawford is concerned. You all sound like a bunch of jilted women -- you're afraid to love again. Afraid to surrender. Afraid to be hurt.

Has no one noticed? The team's first three game winning streak has coincided with his settling in with the first unit. He's competitive -- even when he's missing. He can pass. He hustles. The character of the team is markedly different with him in the lineup; we're playing with an identity.

Players can improve. Especially rookies with fewer than half a season of games under their belt. He's going to get better. So is this team. You may not like him starting, but if you listen to Flip he seems to notice the way Crawford and Wall work together. Seems to like what they bring over what Young and Wall bring. It's hard to disagree.

Young is a pretty player. He's gotten a lot better but he'll never be a fighter. Fighting is in Crawford's makeup. We talk all the time on here about basketball IQ. What about basketball DNA? Wall, Crawford, Booker -- they have the right DNA.

Relish the kid. We got a steal. He'll only get better. It's okay to love again.

Jordan has certainly shown more than anyone could have expected. If someone had said on the day of the trade that he would drop 39 on Miami everyone would have laughed.

At the very least he should spare the Wizards from trying to find primary backups for Wall and Nick. It will certainly be interesting to see how he develops.

I'm disappointed in Crawford. I expected him to dunk on Lebron James in every game -- even games that weren't against the Heat. He has failed.

Since Crawford's been here, I've come to believe world peace will happen in our lifetime... actually right at the end of our lifetimes... as it may come in an inefficient manner.

Of course, we just don't know how to do it around here. We don't know how to relax and relish. We always fear a career-ending knee injury is just around the corner (too many examples to name -- it's the stain on the franchise). Or we fear he'll forget himself and get fat (John Williams, etc.). Or we fear it'll go to his head and he'll forget the team (Gil, though I still loved him).

Listen, I know. I know it all. I've been living and dying with this team since 1974. It's been hard. And it's not as if we're beautiful losers, either -- like the Cubs or Red Sox, teams that have been poeticized for their failures.

Anyway, my point is -- we overworry about metrics and zero in on holes in a guy's game because we're afraid if we commit, really commit, we'll get burned again. "Don't let JC be yet another in a long line of guys we believed in, and who all betrayed us in one manner or another," we're secretly saying. And so, outwardly, we distance ourselves from him. He'll never amount to more than a 3rd guard. Shoots too much. Inefficient.

Bah. He can play. Period. And he's going to get better and better.

Believing is part of this deal here. Believe, even if there's a part of you that doesn't really. Kind of like religion. Kind of like marriage.

I am a bit amused that we have two threads on the front page for Jordan but Wall doesn't have a thread of his own. He has to share billing with Eddy Curry's cousin.

I mean JC as in the jesus christ analogies from the movie "He Got Game" where Ray Allen played a bball phenom named Jesus Shuttlesworth. Not in any way referring to him being anything close to Jesus Christ from Nazareth.

When they were filming that movie Ray was shooting on an outdoor court while the crew got set up. One of the cameramen said;

"Hey, you're pretty good. I didn't know you could actually play."

“They knew what I could do and what I was capable of. Out of anybody, they not surprised with what I’ve been doing,” Crawford said of the Hawks. He said having to sit on the bench for most of his rookie season was a challenge. “Every game it motivates me. But it’s a business. Even though I was young and it was my first year, I wasn’t tripping on it. It was definitely hard.”

This kid is saying all the right things, sounds very mature. Not used to rookies having such a grasp on how to handle the press, and the ups and downs of playing in the NBA. Im getting more and more excited about him by the day.

Jordan Crawford is a bad dude. That he was the young guy to dunk on Lebron at his skills academy makes sense the more I learn about him.

Detroit kid. (Those are some mean streets, Wes Tiny Abe). Transferred to Hargrave Military Academy, in VA to complete HS. Good place to get the discipline and grades right--also a pro ball factory outlet. Played as a freshman at IU before Kelvin Sampson left. Transferred to Xavier. Athleticism runs in his family, apparently. Older brother is a McDonald's AA who played at Kentucky under Tubby Smith, Joe Crawford. Joe Crawford's had tryouts with the Knicks and Lakers.

NO WONDER Jordan Crawford seems to be unfazed by his success.

He's actually very well prepared for a rookie! His mindset is supreme confidence. Atlanta has Teague, and I guess they felt they could part with him for Kirk.

Jordan and Jeff Teague both are really good players. Jeff's even better but our fix in general sucks and we need a different type of PG. Jordan was talented but we were too good at that position and we are trying to win games. Jeff Teague will do the same thing if he's traded to a bad team. I hope the Hawks get a lot of value for him in terms of a trade.
