As lukewarm as I am on the Rogers Center, a retractable roof is simply a must for our climate. The real backlash against retractable roofs in TO has nothing to do with wanting an open air stadium, it's just that people don't like the RC. Take a look at Safeco Field in Seattle and Minute Maid Park in Houston - those have retractable roofs and are both beautiful ballparks.

The real reason why everyone hates the RC is because of the turf, the concrete, and the fact that it's capacity is much too large. Give us a retractable roof, grass, and a capacity of 35k and we're all golden.

Perhaps going to an all dirt infield instead of just the base areas would help with the base running, not sure if its possible though.

I was curious about the cost of some of the newer ballparks, and according to Wikipedia, Minute Maid Park only cost $250MM to construct. Not sure if that includes all the architecture cost as well. Safeco came in at around $500MM.

The thing I like about Minute Maid Park is the natural light, even when the Dome is closed. It really is a simple, yet beautiful park.

I always liked the concrete when I went but after 20 years, I guess a minor facelift wouldn't hurt. Maybe just painting the concrete a different colour could help. And it doesn't have to be an obvious colour (could be black, red or white. It doesn't have to be blue).

Either paint the concrete or just put some kind of plastic tiling over it.

While we're on improvements, the thing that bothers me most is those dark ramps/walkways you have to go up when going to the 200 or 500 levels. It feels like you are going into some bunker, not to mention its always hot and smelly there.

They should remove some seats from the 500 level so that it isn't so steep up there, and more space to sit. The first few rows of the 500s give a great view of the field but it's a pain in the ass to get up there.

Makes it look emptier. 11,684 attendance last night. Have we become the Montreal Expos? I wonder if that's how the players feel.
