I think Kemba can have a similar career to pre-injury TJ since they are a similar height and TJ was doing pretty good before his big injury.

the comparison ends right here.

for his position? by what, like an inch? It's not like he can't beef up a bit either.
not a good defender in college
This isn't true man.
shoots a low percentage
His TS is fine.
takes a lot of shots
Again, who else was going to carry the scoring load on UConn?
and doesn't really pass the ball.
To who? Oriakhi is far from polished offensively. Lamb is a slasher, spot-up guy, and as intriguing a prospect as he is, his skill/talent level right now is merely on a role-playing level. Napier is essentially a poor man's Chris Childs. Roscoe Smith? lol. There is NO ONE else on this team dependable enough to split the scoring load with Kemba. I mean, UConn won the damn title. I'd like to know how you think they would have done this without Kemba taking a lot of shots.
Regardless, his playmaking ability is still being overlooked. It needs to improve but it's not non-existent like you make it seem.
Kemba is not a ball-hogging chucker. He's a straight-up baller and will do just fine in the league. Do I think he's worth a top 5 pick? Perhaps not. But I'm having a tough time locating all these 'flags' that will be such a detriment to him at the next level, and even then, I think his intangibles offset whatever he is lacking physically (body frame), which is really the only true and troubling flag I notice.

Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

Im waiting for someone to start making an argument that the raptors to draft a guy like Nolan Smith using literally the exact same premises that are being displayed in these Kemba spats.

Nope, no one would do that...because all of us are still stuck on Kemba.

He wouldn't be a bad late selection actually.
He's not quite as athletic as Kemba nor nearly as quick but he does play hard and makes a lot of big shots.
Don't hate.

And of course Nolan Smith isn't undersized so he should be able to guard splendidly

He does have other advantages that make him effective.
I think that about 150 guys in the league, who don't matter, have advantages that make them effective. Once again, it's a risk/reward thing and I think that it's unlikely that he'll even be an efficient one-way guard. That's a terrible bet in the lotto, in any year.
It would take a Jameer Nelson-type drop, who had similar pro concerns and individual college success, for me to take Kemba. Jameer was really a SG in college, too, with Delonte running the show.
As an aside, I think that it's crazy to put the same stock in NCAA experience and success as you could do even 10 years ago. The college game has gone to ****.

When did Kemba Walker become so beloved? He wasn't this loved 2 months ago.
When Chuck Norris was born the doc said "Congratulations, its a man"

100% agreed there. But its the only thing we have to evaluate prospects, not even the combine gives you that sort of look.
Still you can't discredit a winner no matter where they won. Especially if its deemed they virtually did it on their own like Kemba.
To be honest I'm tired of defending the guy, you can't coax a rock to be a river any way. He has noticeable flaws but so do many of the prospects in this draft (aside from Kyrie who has given us a small sample to analyze) Its just a **** draft and like history has shown there are guys that have potential to elevate their game at the next level REGARDLESS of size and physical make up. I think Kemba has the intangible edge over almost every prospect out there and I also think his skill set is highly transferable. He's a fearless leader and has incredible shot making ability, I like that and dislike a few things about him too.
The workouts I think will yield the truth about what he can and can't do.

Re: Official Raptors 2011 NBA Draft Thread, Part 6
I just scanned through the lottery draft in the last 6-7 years so, teams that go in with the 4th pick prior going into the draft lottery has been cursed by nothing but bad luck, twice has happened that they ended up moving down to the 6th spot. So I hope we crack down the 3rd pick instead of 4th, something`s not right with that `4` digit number

Although the #4 pick itself has had some good players:
Tyreke Evans (2009)
Russell Westbrook (2008)
Chris Paul (2005)
Chris Bosh (2003)

if u think kemba belongs to top 5 topic is ridiculous, u should have seen a poster who just posted a new thread about irving (deleted by mod at the end)...he said raptors shouldn`t even draft irving because hes a scoring guard and even when he does average 20 and 10, he will score enough points in the game that it will hinder demar`s scoring opportunities. Seriously I don`t know what else to say to that poster, maybe just say BALL or something

Seems like many people see red flags attached to Kemba but are overlooking the red flags attached to Perry Jones and would settle for him at No. 4 or 5. Do we want another player with suspect motivational issues?

ya true
if brandon knight had the explosive skillset of westbrook I would be happy to draft him this year lol, I guess if we are to draft 4th this year...it`d be Perry Jones if Barnes`s declaring. If barnes not declaring.......................it`ll be irving, dwill and p.jone going off, then that left us with....

he has red flags indeed but because he also has the most upside out of all the players in this draft, and we have glaring need at the SF, why draft kemba when we have bayless with a slightly close if not 100% identical skill-set.

Have you ever seen him play? And not a youtube highlight pack..I've heard he is more of a power forward. I just feel Kanter may turn out the better player, don't know why.

" Our goal is to make sure our players dont go just jump in the NBA pool, but that they can swim in the deep end."
Sean Miller said that about Derrick Williams in his season ending press conference.
In other raptor related-Arizona news; Damon Stoudamire is a name being thrown around as a possible new assistant coach.
I don't know if hes experienced enough though.
Funny how college>nba
