Well, I think people are afraid because the chances of him doing absolutely nothing vs. something are roughly equal, and if he doesn't defend or get defensive rebounds(which he hasn't yet chosen to do), in addition to score then the "something" he promises still might not be enough.
He'd have to be a great offensive player to be a plus player, and a lot of things need to come together for that to happen... he doesn't shoot threes, make free throws, his AST/TO is poor and he scored 14 per last year in 34 minutes. And, while I don't watch much non-conference ball, when I did watch Baylor this year I forgot Jones was on the floor on more than a couple occasions. Once I was waiting for him to come in, then he checked out. I don't care if you're out of position, the NCAA sucks and if you're a star you should shine.
I think there's a great chance of him being a frustrating, permanent potential player like Charlie V/AntRand/Blatche, a 4 who wants to play like a 3 on one end and like a zombie on the other. If you don't hustle when you're young, you never do.
All that said, I'd take him about #5 this year among the NA prospects

. I'd intend to trade him if I took him, somebody will want him... but if Bargs goes and there's no good deal for PJIII then I can live with one unilateral big with a girly name. Half the GMs/coaches in the league will always think they can get something out of him and his physical tools.
