Lopez & Outlaw 4 Marc Gasol????
Would you do a sign and trade for Marc Gasol? I'd include Outlaw to make it work. I don't think Memphis can afford to sign both Gasol and Randolph. This way Memphis can buy themselves time by sticking in Lopez there.
We can then go out and sign DeAndre Jordan, JR Smith, and Thaddeus Young. I think that starting five would be great. And we'd have assets still to pull off a Dwight Howard trade. But I think Jordan can be as good as Dwight. Yeah I said it!
We need a rebounding defensive running team with D-Will.
PG Dwill/Farmar
SG JRSmith/Morrow
SF Young/Kirlenko
PF Gasol/Humphries
C Jordan/Petro

I would absolutely not do this and if the goal is to save money I don't understand it from Memphis' point of view either...

AWWWWWW HELL NO MAINE.
I am riding with Lopez 'till I DIE.
Actually I just want to see him play next year, some people think I'm making excuses but your rebounding doesn't just fall off when you're a young 20 something without there being some outside circumstance.
If Lopez doesn't rebound next season (literally
) then we might have a problem but I'm confident he'll return to the realm of respectability. Then again Avery is pretty good at putting Lopez at terrible positions on the court... I really miss Frank

This is HORRIBLE. And you follow that up with JR Smith, Kirilenko and Jordan?

I agree with everything you said but your last statement. IMO Lawrence Frank was horrible. At least we run offensive plays now. Before, it was VC isolations and basic derivations from that. I don't miss Opie at all.

Re: Lopez & Outlaw 4 Marc Gasol????
Avery's offense is worse then Opie's, the only difference is after the Deron trade he threw the playbook out and gave the reigns to Deron.
I was one of the conductors on the Fire Frank bullet train, but if I knew we were going to replace him with General Custer I would have campaigned to give the Opester an extension.

Avery's problem is that he thinks he's a dynamite offensive mind because he played the point and they retired his jersey in San Antonio.

Agreed with what most are saying here about Avery. He's terrible at utilizing Brook and generally running offensive plays for him.
Oh yea, I probably wouldn't do that trade either. At least not while Brook's value is so low, which it should increase next season.

Re: Lopez & Outlaw 4 Marc Gasol????
Players I would probably trade Brook for IF it was concrete we couldn't get Dwight, in no order:
LaMarcus Aldridge
Andrew Bogut
Rudy Gay
Al Horford
Carmelo Anthony(Haha, I know I'm bout to catch hell for this one, lol)
Combo of Serge Ibaka and James Harden
Dirk
Pau Gasol
Combo of JJ Hickson and Cleveland's 2011 pick if it's not top 3, cause then no chance in hell they trade that package for Brook.
Kevin Love
I might be missing one, but that's it and I'm not sure on all of them and some the other team might not go for.
Edit: Forgot about Chris Bosh.

It's official, I'm the only one on RealGM that thinks Love isn't nearly as good as his stats would have you believe.
For all the crap lopez gets, Love has an even worse all time record.

Count me in as number two. Although, I will say that you can't get 15 rebounds per game by pure luck. However, no one really gameplans against Minnesota because it's almost a guaranteed win anyway. Love putting up ridiculously good stats when his team gets blown out doesn't really mean much to me. I think his stats would be much different if he were on a better team or if his team was in the playoffs and people were focusing on stopping him.

Re: Lopez & Outlaw 4 Marc Gasol????
I think that Love is a top rebounder in the league no matter what team you put him. He's probably also a good option on offense, no matter what team you put him on. The problem with Love is his defense. It's pretty bad. If Love was actually on a good team, I don't think his stats would be a lot worse as long as he is used properly. But his defense is certainly the main problem atm. But he's a high IQ player so I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a lot better defensively.

His rebounds would go down.. why?? Because on a good team he would have to be a help defender and not position himself for the rebound before the opposing player takes the shot.

Well, first of all, I can't remember the last great defensive player that wasn't a superior athlete. TD had just enough mobility in his prime along with his great reaction time and length to be a good anchor for the Spurs defense. Love doesn't have the length nor the athletic ability to be a great defensive player. Even if he had the technique, his subpar athletic ability would hurt him. Everyone can "think" about getting to the right spot defensively, but most players don't have the speed to rotate that spot quick enough or shuffle their feet to stay in front of their opponent, the jumping ability to alter or block shots, or the reaction time to contest those shots. So many people spend hours honing in their offensive skills but hardly anyone works on their defensive, which is why we have so many offensive superstars and almost no defensive ones.
It's hard to guarantee that Love's numbers would improve on a better team. One big reason why he's getting so many rebounds is due to the guy playing next to him. If Love's playing next to guys like Darko, of course he'll have to get all of the rebounds because Darko is...well, he's Darko. Put Love next to an all defensive center or someone who likes to rebound like Dwight and his numbers will go down simply because D12 is taller, stronger, faster, and therefore can get to balls quicker. Put Love on this year's Nets and he'll probably do what he did this year.
Hump would not be averaging a double-double if Lopez plays the way he did last year. Give Lopez time to recover from mono and get his strength back and you'll see Humps numbers go down. (That's another reason why we really shouldn't overpay him. This is probably the best he'll ever be considering how Lopez only grabs 5 rebs per game this year. When he returns to his old self next year, Hump would probably avearge 7.

He would also get benched if he refused to play help defense in favor of setting up real estate in the lane.

Re: Lopez & Outlaw 4 Marc Gasol????
His rebounds would probably go down (depending on who he is playing next to) but he'll still be an elite level rebounder. I mean you just have to look at the way he goes for his rebounds, it's not hard to see why he's the best rebounder in the league right now.jeff1624 wrote:DarkXaero wrote:I think that Love is a top rebounder in the league no matter what team you put him. Honestly, looking back on my list, the only ones I'm really iffy on are Love, Bogut and the Cleveland package.
Bogut because he's always injured and can't shoot free throws and the Cleveland package is high risk, high reward, but I still think I would do it.
Love, yeah I don't think I would do it, not because he stat pads, but because he is just so terrible on defense. If Brook looks bad with our wings and scheme, imagine what Love would be like.

Yeah that made me lol too.. Can't believe we're stuck with him.. damn.
Lets say we do lose D-Will in 2012.. we HAVE to involve Outlaw in any S&T we do.
