Re: Prospect Watch Thread
After seeing him play, I think I'd take Bismack over Jonas Valanciunas at this point.
Look at their per 40 pace adjusted numbers against similar levels of competition (Bismack - ACB, Jonas - Euro):
Bismack - 14.6 points, 9.4 FGA (1.55 PPS), 7.7 FTA (0.82 FTA/FGA (!)), 11.7 rebounds, 5.3 blocks (!), 4.6 fouls
Jonas - 20.3 points, 11.5 FGA (1.76 PPS), 4.6 FTA (0.4 FTA/FGA), 14.5 rebounds, 1.7 blocks, 8.2 fouls
The biggest thing is that Bismack was significantly better at blocking shots but was still less foul prone (by far) than Jonas was.

Re: Prospect Watch Thread
Bismack Biyombo's triple-double in the Nike Hoop Summit increased his already growing momentum heading into the 2011 NBA Draft.
"He runs the floor, he defends and he's cat-quick,'' said an NBA scout of Biyombo. "His offensive skills need to be developed, but his athleticism screams out.''
"He's Ben Wallace, basically,'' said another NBA executive.
A half-dozen NBA scouts and executives told Sports Illustrated that they had concerns if he was older than his listed age of 18. Biyombo is physically more mature and also exhibited leadership skills to suggest he is older than his age.
He began his professional career in Yemen in 2009, and then moved to the Spanish fourth division in 2009-10. He quickly worked his way up to Spain's ACB, the top national league in Europe, where he is currently averaging 6.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 blocks in 14 games with the club Fuenlabrada.
"The way I play here, I play everywhere,'' he said following the Hoop Summit. "In the ACB I play with a lot of smart guys, I play with a lot of strong guys, and when I step on the court I just want to kill them.''
His favorite players are Kevin Garnett and Kevin Love.
"Kevin Garnett is intense player -- every time he's not on the floor, his team is missing him,'' said Biyombo. "I want to (play) defense as a team. I want to help everybody on my team and I want to win the game ... That's what I heard from my first coach, that the good offense is defense. If I block a lot of shots then it's good offense. If I get a lot of rebounds, then it's good offense.''

Nice little article about our boy Biyombo. I like that his favorite players are KG and Kevin Love too.

Not going to lie. This guy obviously has nice tools, but his rapid rise makes me a bit cautious.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Re: Prospect Watch Thread
He's 18, built like a tank, 6'9 with a 7'7 wingpsan, loves to play defense and has a high motor..He's either the next Mutombo or the next Diop..you have to take a chance on players like him though, especially in a draft as shallow as this.
Unless, we get the #1 pick, then we take Irving, but if we don't...we still have Rubio, Flynn, Ridnour as PG and only 1 real center in Darko

Mutombo was like 7'2, I don't think he's a good comparison.

I still can't believe that wingspan, dude's a gorilla. It's gonna be interesting to see who's going to pull the trigger on him in the draft.
He might be getting overhyped, but dang, nbadraft has him @ #50. 2nd round.

I'm still a little skeptic on his measurements, they might not be 100% accurate. Even if they are a little off though those measurements are still ridiculous. He's getting a lot of hype right now but I bet he'll go in the late lottery.

Re: Prospect Watch Thread
w/ his size/athleticism/defensive mindset he seems to make a lot more sense than Nick Jonas or Kahnter

They're the official measurements from the hoops summit; why would you think that they're not accurate?

Re: Prospect Watch Thread
Ben Wallace seems like a decent comparison. A defensive difference maker with that motor and athletic ability would be nice next to Rubio. He seems to play the P/R well and has decent hands.

Re: Prospect Watch Thread
I just finished watching the Hoop Summit. I'm infatuated with Biyombo. If he's actually 18 and not 24 like he looks/acts, then I'm comfortable taking him #3 after Barnes and Irving.

I don't think I'd have the balls to take him ahead of P Jones and Derrick Williams, that might be getting a little bit kraaaaazy

First, I believe Biyombo age.
Second, Biyombo's defense >>>> Biyombo's offense.
Third, Biyombo wont be a TOP 10, otherwise I give me a close haircut.
