Either Milb's box score is trying to tear a hole in my heart.... Or the Jays organization have tore a hole in my heart.. What's the deal with Carreno coming out of the pen ?

He was penciled in for the rotation, dunno. Could be a case where they felt that he didn't get enough innings in spring to rush him out there for five/six innings, so they're breaking him in slowly. I hope so, at least; he could be a future closer, but I'd like him in the rotation until it's no longer viable.

Yeah, even if his future was in the pen, you'd like to see him remain a starter until he forces the club's hand, such as filling a need on the team

Hopefully it's a matter of just being a bit behind, because other than Stewart, it's hard finding anyone else on that staff who you'd think would block his role as a starter

We don't talk about McDade much but I think he can be a legit hitter for us potentially as a late season call up next year.

It's possible; he has a tonne of natural power, but his strikeout and walk rates don't play at the moment. At 22, he's still young enough for that to change, though.

If Cooper has a wonderful AAA season (hypothetically speaking), and shows that he's totally ready for the majors, how will he break with the club? Lind seems to be locked into 1B for a while. Maybe he'll be used as trade bait?

I think he`s Rule 5 eligible next year so they have to make a decision. They`re probably going to have to trade him. He`s a alot like Overbay at 1B so he`s going to be a legit player but not a star.

Lind has looked great at 1B so far and McDade is right behind Cooper looking to get to AAA at some point this season.

It really depends on how they assess his upside. They seemed to be very impressed with him this spring. If he really starts to break out, it wouldn't be horrible to bring him up to play 1st and DH Lind. It would certainly solve our DH miseries!

I'd imagine that he could...but if faced with that decision, they'd likely move Escobar to second rather than Hech, as he projects as the better fielder.

Richmond recalled from Triple-A

The Blue Jays recalled right-hander Scott Richmond from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday morning.

Richmond is 9-14 with a 5.27 ERA in 32 career outings in the Major Leagues. To make room on the 25-man roster Toronto optioned utilityman Mike McCoy to Triple-A.

The move was made to provide more depth to an undermanned bullpen following Saturday night's 14-inning game.

"As much as our bullpen has been pressed into duty -- and 14 innings last night, quick turnaround -- Scott is someone that we can budget for 70 pitches today, if needed," Blue Jays manager John Farrell said before Sunday's series finale against the Angels.

Toronto's bullpen used six relievers, who threw a combined 8 2/3 innings, in the 6-5 loss to Los Angeles. The relief corps has now thrown 31 1/3 innings this season, which ranks second to the Yankees for the most in the American League.

Richmond's stint with the Blue Jays might be a short one. Outfielder Corey Patterson is nearing a return to the Major Leagues and could be activated in time to join Toronto for its road trip to Seattle on Monday.

Patterson went 1-for-4 with one strikeout for Class-A Dunedin on Saturday. He is 3-for-11 during his rehab, while making his way back from a head contusion.

Lansing finally got a game in today

Crouse was 2 for 4 with a three run shot and a stolen base
Perez had three hits and Hobson and Pierre had two each

Mastro, Lawrie and Thames are all around .400 and they haven't even got to Cashman Field yet. Should be fun to see the numbers they put up.

That Lansing offence will have to be watched pretty closeley. Two legitamtely good prospects in Perez and Marisnick springled in with a couple of high bust potential 5 tool guys like Crouse, Pierre and Knecht

I think the long-term plan as long as Aaron Hill doesn't continue this offensive funk is to keep Hech at SS, move Escobar to 2nd and determine which is the better option between Lawrie and Hill to play 3rd. IMO, If he continues this funk it might be that the Jays do not pick up the option on Hill and then play Lawrie at third.
