Holy crap, zero way you take him over Jones. Zero. If we were in the same lottery position we had last year, then sure, you take a gamble. But top 5? GTFOutta here with that haha

Biyombo is a lot stronger and developed physically than McGee (and Biedrins), who has a much skinnier frame. Biyombo actually looks committed to playing defense, unlike McGee who certainly has the tools to be a great defender but sadly hasn't shown the focus or mindset to do it on a consistent basis. I think he could go late lotto in this draft (higher than that is reaching imo), simply because he's competing against guys like Vesely, Kawhi Leonard, Motiejunas, Fredette, Faried, and the Morris twins--none of which have the kind of defensive upside that he does (and some of them looking like potentially Bargnani-esque liabilities on that end of the floor). He's always going to bring it on the defensive end, which can make him a solid contributor on any team he's on. At 18, he's far from being a finished product, and in that range I don't see any prospects (especially big man prospects, aside from maybe Mirotic) that are clearly better than him.

I definitely see value in a guy like that. McGee is just a run and jump athlete and he plays like it. Look at what Joel Anthony does for the Heat. Biyombo has much more potential than that. Like I said, get him a big man coach.

So let's say we get the #1 pick and draft Irving... do we trade Bayless? What would we be able to get for him with his recent play?

Not too often I disagree with you so I will have to rethink my position..

Not that I know a tonne about Biyombo but haven't heard anything that makes me think of McGee. McGee is a knucklehead and a sieve. If he had half a brain he would be an all-star.

Biyombo rebounds at a high rate, exceptional shotblocker and runs the floor well.He did this all year against top euros, not just one dominant game this weekend.
I not saying he the pick but if he interviews and works out well I would have him pretty him on my draft board..

Williams

after that its really going to come down to workouts.
Kanter
Biyimbo
Valanciunas
Vesely
knight

all have a legit chance of being in the mix. Perry Jones as well but he scares me more than any other guy in the mix.

If we do in fact get Kyrie that will be the billion dollar question. It's a good problem to have though.

I dont think we'd get much for Bayless. Theres simply too many guards better than him in the league thus no one with a great need willing to give up that much. Plus this draft will add another 3-4 potential starters with many more in next year's draft. Supply and demand.

The economics reference is impressive! I think he can prove how good he is, but he needs time. Drafting a point guard would hinder that. We would probably get limited value or production (if we keep him) if that situation plays out.

I think he'd be a fine backup. If he doesn't adjust to the role, too bad for him. We'd have Irving

I wish we knew how Kanter plays. I really like him in theory. Tough, rebounding center with a good post game. In reality he's probably not even as good as Amir. I could see him flopping like Cole Aldrich

The lack of info on Kaner could end up being a blessing in disguise. If he really is a potential #1 pick type center and slips to us at 4-5 then we should take him and run. If he pans out then our frontcourt is set for a while. The 2012 class doesn't have any great 5's so we could focus on getting a PG/SF.

One thing I know for sure is he knows how to speak english or at least I know what the hell he's saying during the interview.

I really think Kanter can be similar to Monroe with his skill-level. I'm really hoping that him and Jonas (Bismack too, for that matter) are willing to do competitive workouts so we can really get a good feel for how they stack up. If he's as good as he seems, he will shine going up against other prospects. The payoff with having a solid, young, complementary frontcourt of Ed/Kanter to go along with a dynamic scoring backcourt in DeMar and Bayless would be tremendous for us. Then if we happen to land Gilchrist/Miller next year, watch out.

Obviously, I've only watched his highlights, but Kanter seems to have that fluidity. I really rate players with great footwork, strength and agility. I think he's gonna be fine just like Sullinger will be when he decides to come out.

in my mind, if we dont get irving, then i'll get kanter. i'm quite happy with JJ at SF
