Are we a worse team down the stretch this year?

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 4:55 pm

Obviously, I'm looking at our losses more than our wins when I try to figure this out for myself, and I'm not talking about times where there are just a few seconds left with one shot remaining, but it just seems like down the stretch of many games this year, we have some serious issues with closing out games. Usually last season, if it was ever a tie or very close game with say 3-5 minutes left against a tough opponent, the Lakers would usually be able to close it out. It seems like down the stretch this year, I'm seeing a lot of turnovers, bad shots, bad defense, etc. I also think that the difference in our record from last year to this year has/had to do with our ability to win the game down the stretch (whether it be Kobe, or another player).

Luckily for us, usually we do much better in the post-season, but that's just something I'm noticing last year.

i personally think their mentally done with the regular season.. and just saving their energy for the playoffs. They know that the Spurs are out of their reach, but at the same time.. they need to hang on to the #2 spot and face the Hornets. Now their tied with the Mavs for the #2 spot. Memphis and especially the Tblazers would be tough matchups for them in the 1st round. I think theyll wake up these next to games and go into the playoffs on a winning note. If not... they have a hard road ahead of them to get that 3Peat.

P.S: Kobe needs to get those fingers surgically repaired cause they have caught up with him. Hes loosing the handle on the ball, dribbling off his feet, getting stripped very easily and shooting at a bad percentage. Not what you wanna see from your star player around this time of the year.

the laker season hasnt even started yet who cares about how were playing down the stretch of the RS
we should just wait a couple of days for the playoffs to start before cluttering the board with useless/pointless threads

I agree about waiting until the post-season, but I think the only thing that is "useless and pointless" is your post.

i didnt even bother to read your original post i just saw the op and instantly went
i know that its frusturating losing games but and the end of the day it just doesnt matter how we play during the regular season. look we could go on a ten game winning streak and be bounced out of the playoffs or we could lose every game (like we are now) and win the ship, so you tell me is this thread really needed.. but for the sake of conversation purposes more power to you

The bench is worse than last years bench. Barnes brings hustle but Blake ehh. Shannon brown ........ LO is great but I dont know if he's a true bench player . He would be starting for every other team in the NBA.

this.

in terms of explosiveness id say he actually hasnt suffered from needing his knees drained as much as last yr which has led to more pop in his step.

but his fingers are really taking a beating.
