Whats mturk?

Fill out surveys/do things that require human assistance - it's run by amazon.

I want more money!

In my eyes the payment counts as a fine for the player (and thus lower their salary), and the NBA will claim the payment as a charitable donation, lowering their tax burden, as the NBA are the ones who actually make the payment to charity.

oh right but then it is the ordinary and necessary expence by players stated by §162(a)

I'm afraid I can't point you to the exact standard. I'm an accountant, but I'm also English and I have no experience with the US tax system. So take my post with a pinch of salt, I'm just using logic (?).

I would imagine the NBA can claim dollar-for-dollar relief.

The answer is no. Penalties and fines are not deductible.

That is usually related to penalties paid to a government organization, like on late taxes or parking tickets, etc. A Good accountant could claim the fines paid to the NBA as a work related expense.

Yep, technical fines would be allowed I'd imagine. If you get a Gilbert Arenas whipping-your-gun-out-on-a-teammate season long fine then it wouldn't be allowable, but techs are probably considered a "normal" risk to NBA players.

If I wrote a book detailing how to get out of the friend zone would people buy it? Seems like this board would be a perfect place to ask

OT: New Career - Personal Trainer?

Post#127 » by Teppler » Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:17 pm

So here's the thing, I currently work in the stock market basically as a day trader but I have one foot out the door. It hasn't been bad nor incredibly great but the main point is it's time for me to move on. I've found to have an extreme amount of distaste of most things relating to the business/finance world.

I've found I have a passion working with the human body and teaching 1 on 1. One of my favorite hobbies is kung fu/wing chun. I lift a few times a week and stretch a ton. I am extremely fascinated by the meditation aspect of yoga. I relate well with young and older folks alike, basically all types of personalities. Now keep in mind this is only an idea in it's infinitive stage meaning I would probably wait at the very least a month to see if it's still something that lights my eyes up so to speak. I've got time to carefully lay a plan out here.

Basically what I'm wondering from ya'll is if any of you has any input you could write about concerning working fitness relating jobs. Even if you've only worked at a gym I'd love to hear.

Right now I figure I'd take the next couple weeks to learn more in depth all the specific parts of the body as well as browse all the major fitness related forums on the web to sorta of get a feel for that world. So realgm Knicks, tell me whats up.

Nice Nike Commercial with Amare

Post#128 » by 6-6-6 » Mon Apr 11, 2011 11:40 pm

I just saw this today and it's pretty sweet imo. It would of been better if someone else took Chris Bosh's place though. DeSean Jackson (Eagles) is also in it:

As a commercial that was brutal.
Nice to see Amar'e in any commercial as long as it isn't mattresses...
Reminds me of the B.o.B. shoe commercial.

Where do you trade? I used to be in trading too until end of 2010 too (stocks, index + commodity futures)... applying to grad school now. Trading discretionary is impossible imo.

Unfortunately I don't have much input on the personal trainer side.

Feel free to PM about the trading stuff. I worked for a big player in the prop world and wouldn't want to write it in a forum either.
