My style was always half mid term investing, half whats hot right now. I worked solo with my own money specifically within China small caps pretty much. Was really hot about 2 years ago but that space is hell right now and I don't see it recovering any time soon. There's been real shameless stuff I've seen and can't shrug off. I'm sure plenty of people solo like myself still make plenty of bank if they choose to go will a well run analytical TA style but to see some of the illegal back door things people do to scam others out of money is just hard to watch and I'm not just talking about people messing up on risky stocks.

It beside the point though, I could change up but I don't really have the motivation to do so at this point.

I like how Jordan commercials are very dramatic. They resemble some of the old-school Gatorade ones. Jordan commercials are consistently good for sure though.

I like the one I posted above too because it's different... more playfulness and the creativity is amazing imo. The cartoon background makes it somewhat unique.

First of all, that cop was **** his pants. And thats why he gave dude that weak ass hit in the face with the club. All he did was escalate the situation.

It was excessive. By a punk ass cop that would probably get whupped in a fair one with dude.

I also have to say, that fan behavior seems to be getting a bit out of hand. Im all for sending a message to others of what happens if they go and disrupt these games.

But what happened here was dangerous. Because it was out of line. And that time of action from a cop can cause other drunk and wild fans to react. And before you know it you got a brawl.

Those cops was dead wrong. Give the guy a few verbal warnings. If nothing then go ahead and hit him with a shock, cuff him up and get him out. Dont stand there hitting him with weak ass baton blows looking like a half committed sucker.

I traded for a firm where I received a tiny salary and the rest was P/L based. The P/L was very inconsistent so I just thought grad school would be more beneficial for my future.

Technical analysis imo is the biggest joke. There's no way many people make money off that stuff... only in trending markets due to chance. I'm sure there are a lucky few that do based off pure probabilities (I'm very influenced by Nassim Taleb and the "Black Swan" etc.). HFT is impossible for the layman. Were you predominantly buying Chinese stocks... ADRs or B class shares? Are you Chinese, in that event you can probably buy A-class shares right? The Chinese stock market handled the financial crisis of 2008 very well and any bullish strategy would've made you money. Is it skill because of fundamental or technical analysis or just chance because buying anything in a bull market works? We're they commodity Chinese firms?

Trading is tough. Stocks aren't zero-sum but it' still very competitive especially if adjusted for real returns (inflation). Markets are going up now but the US dollar is getting killed.... people don't understand that they're probably not making anything on a real basis. I'm more experienced on the futures and more complex derivatives side. That's a zero sum game and it's brutal. Profit margins now are a joke. Even IBs can't make the money they did several years ago.

Haha I told you every Jordan commercial is serious. Just a different genre of advertising. Awesome though.

Anthony is so skilled it's ridiculous. He's not that athletic but you can even see the raw skill in his commercials. His shot is money (a la Memphis and Indiana).

wasn't sure about some of those sentences.

but i will say that those cops were definitely out of line and should not have been that excessive. drunk fans are obnoxious, but it's the team's own fault for providing alcohol. but then again, i've never been in the cop's situation, so i shouldn't be saying anything

That is usually related to penalties paid to a government organization, like on late taxes or parking tickets, etc. A Good accountant could claim the fines paid to the NBA as a work related expense.

These are big money penalties you are talking about and it is something the IRS is going to see for sure. There are other ways to be progressive but this is not something you want to mess with.

In any case, a work related expense is not defined as a fine or penalty. If you piss of your boss and he docks you a days pay, is that a work related expense? Are parking tickets a work related expense for a delivery truck driver? Park where you're supposed to.

haha those gallo spots were hilarious. I love memory foam though. it probably helped his back a lot. this commercial might work better as a 30 second spot though, it would have more flow and a faster pace.

How in the hell did that post end up in this thread :o

Lame move if a mod did it. I spent the time to write that out so I could multiple opinions and no one's gonna respond to it if it's jumbled up in here.

I've been thinking of going back to school too. I got a degree in financial economics and lucky me the financial meltdown happened halfway through my senior year of college. I guess it's not that bad any way since I've kind of come out of my shell since then and realized that type of life isn't for me.

Now if I go back I really need to be about both something I like a lot and is directly applicable to what I'll do with my future. I've been thinking long and hard about physics because I'm extremely fascinated with the way energy does it's thing. I can't justify the cost of exploring that though because I don't see how it will help me along my job path.

Technical analysis imo is the biggest joke. There's no way many people make money off that stuff... only in trending markets due to chance. You seem to be real market savvy. A hell of a lot more than me.

I'm not working in the Chinese stock market, US listed China names. To give you an idea of how they are doing check out the charts for some of the former leading names, CCME, NEP, PUDA, RINO. These last 3 months I've been on the sidelines pretty much just watching the carnage. Probably good money to be made on the short side.

I play the game mostly by intuition on a lot of different factors. I read into what the company is saying, what other investors are saying and what the charts say. I also adjust for overall market conditions in US/World/China. Watching the trends on puts/calls. I've found investing by DD is an absolute joke.

TA I do believe works but it can't work without putting into a proper context but I'm sure you understand that.

Trading is tough. Stocks aren't zero-sum but it' still very competitive especially if adjusted for real returns (inflation). I don't think it's a zero sum game for traders either but it is a lot closer to that than I originally thought. You got to be a smart dude who can adjust expectations and new 'what if's' every day.

Let me ask you, what is your view on corruption in the market?
