I've read that alot of scouts don't believe that he's actually 18 which, to me, is a pretty big deal. If he's dominating, at least defensively, others in his age group even though he just started playing the game, that's damn impressive. If he really is 22 or 23 and doing this to 17 and 18 year olds, not so impressive, especially when you factor in how limited he is offensively.

Can his age be verified prior to the draft? I know when the Twins signed Sano a couple of years ago, the signing was held up for months while MLB investigated his age.

I LOVED what he did in the Hoops Summit game. I still think he's a little short to play center full time but I guess if Wallace could do it at about 6'9", then Biyombo with his length could too.

Biyombo is now #8 in DX's 2011 mock. He is the second international player taken, after Jonas(!).

Considering all his tweets lately, I'm not surprised. Jon might have blown out his shoulder trying to pat himself on the back for "seeing his talent before anyone else."

We need to fake an injury that lowers his draft stock in order to get him.

Perry Jones III just announced he is returning. It's been rumored (Scott Van Pelt today) that Barnes has also decided to return.

Worst draft ever??

That must have been the 2000 or the Adam Morrison draft so far. We'll get a decent player by picking in the top 4. A late lottery pick might be like a late 1st in other years, though.

Draft Board:

1 - Kyrie Irving
Anywhere Else - Bismack Biyambo

I'm actually okay with that.

I don't think Jones, Barnes, and Sullinger could be drafted as high as they could have this year. I respect their decision, but the fan in me hopes they fall late in the 2012 draft.

Probably won't matter. With the way Utah has played since the DWill trade, there's a very, very good chance we won't have any pick next year.

I wasn't even thinking of the Utah pick. The fan in me just wants their decision to backfire.

I'm actually coming around to that too, but on the other hand we know Biyombo isn't going to contribute much besides dunks on offense and how many big men rookies are instant impact defenders? Might be 3 or 4 seasons before that pick pays dividends :/

I guess the Wolves can afford to wait

i was focusing on who I want. If we pick 3-4, yeah draft Williams but we are not going to keep him with Love already at PF (and no I don't see Williams as a SF.) I'm just admitting that I am ready to take the red pill and draft Bismarky Biyomamo.

GypherIt!: You know, I know this player doesn't exist. I know that when I read DX & watch the videos, the Matrix is telling my brain that he is going to be very good. After nine+ years as a Wolves fan, you know what I realize?

I'm actually quite alright with that too. I had a huge Ronzone for Ibaka last year about this time, but the sheer size of my Ronzone for Biyombo makes that an insignificant memory.

Jonathan Givony has written a little article about him:
http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Bis ... rney--3672

After reading that article is is really incredible how fast his stock has risen in the basketball world. Given the way he has handled that roller coaster and continues to blow away expectations, along with his youth and his almost complete lack of experience, he strikes me as the kind of guy who we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg right now. In that sense, it is possible that his floor may be Ben Wallace, and his ceiling may be much higher. He seems like a very high character guy, a natural leader, and a tireless worker, to go along with the fact that he is a freak of nature physically. Reading about how quickly his game improved once he started getting minutes for his ACB team, it is crazy to think about his potential once he is working non-stop with NBA coaches and trainers.

DX now has him at 7 in their mock, and once he starts doing workouts we'll really see where his stock is at. I actually want him more than anyone in this draft at this point, and would be willing to either trade up or down, depending on how everything plays out, to make sure we get this kid.

Barnes is likely going to wait at least another year unless I missed something in the last few hours. So I think the Jimmer and one of, if not both the Morris twins are now top 10 picks depending how the Euros workout.

When did Barnes make a decision?
