One of the best Leaf of all time. Awesome career.

He's the guy that got me interested in hockey, I just wish he didn't make that last ditch effort in going to Vancouver.

Well deserved. it's unfortunate typical fans feel a captain like Wendel or Dougie made more of a difference than Mats. Mats was the captain and top offensive players on the team. And he performed those roles...his roles....admirably for so many years.

And I believe he was true blue, to the point he couldn't imagine being traded mid season to another team. That should be respected. The fact he was able to join another team after being away from the Leafs for a while....very different.

I wish MLSE would retire numbers...no one should wear #13 again, as well as bunch of other numbers that should be reitred. They should've learned their lesson when Corson wore 27.

Best Leaf ever...

It's just too bad he was surrounded by 2nd line talent for most of his career

He's a total class act on and off the ice. You won't find a nicer guy away from the rink. I've ran into him a few times downtown, and he was a complete pleasure to talk to.

Sundin, Halladay, Joe Carter and well Vince Carter should of all been numbers we never have worn again. Vince I guess not so much anymore but Halladay isnt retired yet either. We owe it to them to hang those jerseys up if we cant get division champs or win it all!

Halladay isn't even retired yet. You don't retire a players jersey when they are still playing.

Date is February 11 versus the Habs. He'll be in attendance tonight as well.
