correction, 5.5 million doesnt buy a lot for the stupid teams in the NBA

but for smart teams, look at the Thunder locking up Sefolosha for 3.5 mil, Bulls get Ronnie Brewer for 4.5, GS picked up Dorell Wright for 4, theres decent deals out there.

Webster was a bad contract even before the back issues, Kahn got hosed by a mediocre GM that already knew he was getting fired, thats pretty impressive

What a bargain. Ronnie Brewer for only $4.5M you say?

Shrug. He plays good defense and is a decent slasher. Brewer also played in 80 games so far this year for his 4.5 million.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I like both players, but it's quite possible for all the talent he has Webster is what he is: a solid backup at 2/3. Johnson right now doesn't look much different (except Webster is a better defender), but it's a small sample to go by. If we had Wall, Rose, Williams, or similar PG, I don't think it would be much of an issue to have one start and one be the first guy off the bench.

If either can be part of a deal to get us the SG we need, then fine dealing either.

Pretty much this. The best thing about Webster, IMO, is that he really doesn't mind coming off the bench and he always hustles. He's a solid shooter if his feet are planted and he likes to try to drive to the hoop (I am less than convinced he is any good at this). Regardless, he can be a scorer off the bench. Great.

Johnson is an enigma, rookie class. He will show significant development next year or he won't. He has the potential to be a plus-defender lights-out shooter. Sounds great. Worth keeping around.

I don't see the conflict between keeping both of them. Wes develops or he doesn't, and hopefully gets traded if he doesn't. Web can come off the bench and start in a pinch if Wes is hurting.

The conflict is that I am unsure you can play them together. Is Wes a SG? Do we feel he would improve more as a SF? Clearly Webster is a SF (I think?...Do you?). So they conflict for minutes but also for their role. Both guys appear to need someone to make the play around him (Webster can break down a little).

Maybe long-term Johnson can be our Rudy F for Rubio in the starting line-up and Webster can be the scoring 25min+ bench player? Perhaps Beasley is the one that does not fit?

I see Wes as a SF who can play SG, but that's not his best fit due to handles and D. I think Webster is more of a true tweener, but see him leaning more towards SG with his skills. In terms of fit, not skill set, upside, etc, I'd say Wes is like a Luol Deng and Webster like a Michael Finley.

Considering the rotation the year before was Pavlovic, Wilkins and Gomes, I was fine with him taking as many wings as he could.
