Let's sticky this and see if playoff talk can reside on one thread.
FAH1223 - when the west is set, come back to your original post and edit it to include west match-ups please. Okay?

Gotta go with chalk in round one. To answer the original question, I think Philly is going to get stomped like a narc at a Hell's Angel's rally.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
Prime example of the first round being 5 games. Miami/Philly, Bulls/Pacers will probably go 5 games max, instead we have to sit through 2.5 weeks of basketball. And the schedule needs to be worked on as well. If Game 1 is Sunday, Game 2 should be Monday, not Game 1 Sunday, and then wait 4 days.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
The teams I will cheer for come playoff time are:
-- West: San Antonio. I think they're a class organization. I have nothing but respect for them.
-- East: Orlando. I'm still, and will always be, a fan of Gilbert. I hope he does well in the playoffs.

I think Miami matches up Wade on Holiday. That means they pretty much win the match-ups of the big 3
Holiday vs Wade
Iggy vs LeWhine
Brand vs Bosh
I think Brand may win his match-up, but the rest clearly go to the Heat.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
I think Chicago, Miami, and Orlando will all win their series easily. I don't even see myself really watching very many of those games. Maybe Orlando to see Gil.
Boston vs NY will be the most interesting IMO. The C's may not have Shaq but he'd be a liability against Amare anyway. I see both teams going small and Amare/KG playing lots of minutes in the middle, opening up minutes for Jeff Green at PF. That could be the difference IMO since I don't see NY having anybody to match up with him.

I really wanted to see a Miami/NYK match-up. Partly to see LeBron get booed in NY, but also because I think Miami would have a tough time with NYK. They are one of the few teams that can keep up with Miami offensively. I think Wade would have scored on Landry Fields, but he would have had to work. LeBron and Anthony would have been pretty close and I think Amare beats out Bosh. I think the Heat win, but I easily see them being pushed to game 7.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
I have a hard time rooting against fellow EC teams.
I'll be pulling for Durant & OKC since he's a class act, local, and one of the most likable stars in the league in my opinion. I'll also be pulling for Denver to at least pull one upset with their team play to give a small semblance of balance to the new South Beach trend of stockpiling stars.
And I echo Pine, its hard to root against San Antonio since they're such a classy organization.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
who will get more phantom fouls, LeWhine or the Wadette?
Go Philly! yeah I know they have almost no chance but I am a
Wizards fan so I understand these things.
I'm more against MIA, then against BOS, in the east.
Against the Lakers in the west.
I can't see any team below the top 3 in the east winning.
In the west I actually think it's a little more open with the
top 4 all possibly making the finals.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
I'm hoping for a NYK beat down in round one and for the Nuggets to win a series, or two.
Nuggets are being overlooked a bit. They have 10 guys on their team who would be worthy of starter minutes on nearly every team in the leage and they are pesky a bleep. Since the Melo trade their points allowed per 100 possessions has decrease by 10. Not just their defense but their offense is fluid and electric. As Glen Consor would say, the ball is always popping when the Nuggets are playing.

I like the Nugs too.
Karl appears to me to be a pretty darn good coach.
And they're deep as #ell with all those players they
got from the Nix. It'll be interesting to see what the
matchups end up being.

I agree, the only first round series I will watch in the East is Boston vs NY

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
Sixers could push Miami to the brink, if they play tough. In the end though I think Miami will win that match-up, especially when whoever is going against them has to deal with refs as well... I'm going to say 5 games as well, Sixers will probably get one at home.
2nd round is as far as the Heat should go and i cant wait to taste LeBron's DELICIOUS SORROW.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Re: 2011 NBA Playoffs
You can't write off the Lakers even though they havent looked like champs at stages. Guys like Fisher and Kobe come into their own this time of year. Spurs will present a challenge. Tough call really, but my nose says not to write off the champs.
Edit: Just as I hit submit, Bynum slips and hyper-extends his knee. Hes walking o.k. on it though so I think he'll be back.

Rooting for Orlando in the East and Oklahoma City in the West. Long as Miami, Boston, LA, or San Antonio don't win it all though I'll be happy.
