CP3 in 2012?

Post#1 » by yattydaddy » Tue Apr 12, 2011 9:24 pm

Hello all, Bulls fan here but I saw a very interesting article on ESPN today and I couldn't find a topic on it.

Apparently CP3 will consider joining Jordan's Bobcats in 2012. I think that would be great for you guys, you really need a superstar to jumpstart the franchise. I actually really hope this goes through. Hopefully the 'Cats can make their roster a bit more appealing by then, but its something to look forward to in the very least.

What do you guys think?

i think theres a real good chance its gonna happen.. our pipe dreams is that we sign both CP and Howard in '12.. Dwight expressed interest in wanting to play here also, abit in a joking manner though.

It will be a little difficult for the Bobcats to sign both Paul and Howard unless they can find a way to trade one of Jackson, Diop or Thomas for expirings.

is anyone at least a tad bit concerned that paul maybe never get back his full level of quickness since his injuries this year?

Still don't trust Higgins running things. MJ needs a guy who knows how to build a contender, put him on the straight and narrow, a la Kevin Pritchard.

If MJ's thinking CP3 and Dwight in 2012, he needs Jack, Diop off the books.

Yep, guess it all comes down to whether or not he can remain healthy and how well he plays next year. I've read his injury is starting to slow him down, he just doesn't have that quickness he had when he was slicing and dicing defenses anymore. I've also read he's preserving/conserving his energy for the playoffs.

I get the feeling he's lost that quickness, making him less effective in his half court offense attack. From what i've seen of him this season, he really looks like he's aged 5-6 years. In saying that, KG was the same way when he went down with that knee injury. It took him a full season to recover and regain some of that quickness back.

If Chris Paul was willing to come to the Bobcats I think New Orleans would want to do a trade and not lose him at end of contract for nothing. I would jump all over this if I was the Bobcats as soon as season is over. I wonder if the Hornets would be interested in something like:

Bobcats get: Chris Paul, Okafor, Bellineli

Hornets get: Boris Diaw, Jax, Diop, Augustine, and our 10th overall pick.

Bobcats Lineup
CP3-Livo
Hendo-Bellineli, Carroll
20th pick, Cunningham
TT, White, Najera
Okafor, Kwame

Our 20th pick we would grab either Jordan Hamilton, Tyler Honeycutt, or Tobias Harris.

what do you expect him to say? he didn't say he wasn't gonna come to charlotte, he just said hes focused on NO right now because they're in the playoffs.. he said nothing that would lead one to believe hes still not coming to CLT

No, if he really had no intentions of coming here, he would flat out say, No i'm not coming to charlotte.. if he came out and said, yes I plan to leave NO for charlotte, he would get fined, and so would jordan probably.. going by that logic, did Melo have no intentions of going to NYK since he didn't flat out say he wanted to go beforehand? it doesn't work that way.

Wanting to play for NY and Charlotte are 2 totally different things, especially with Amare already a knick. In the climate of the league today it's just rare for a star player to leave a playoff team for a team that's not even close to contending. I mean some really good teams are going to be lobbying for his services, other than the "hometown team" thing I don't see us being able to compete. I know guys love and respect Jordan but in the primes of their careers they want a chance to win it all. Unless we make some really good moves this next year and get some serious building blocks for the future I don't see it happening. CP3 may be the exception to the rule but i'll believe it when I see it. I think out of respect to Jordan he didn't want to flat out say he wouldn't come to Charlotte.

Wow you guys really see the glass half empty don't you! Here is why Chris Paul probably will be a bobcat.

1. You guys always say Mike is a bad owner check out the history of the Hornets. Chris is probably desperate to get off of that titanic!

2. The experts are predicting a hard cap with the new agreement. If that happens the mere 28 million in committed salary the bobcats have for 12/13 will look pretty good. And that number could easily drop if Mike trades Jack in a similar trade to the one he pulled for Gerald.

3. Micheal Jordan- Come on you know there is some desire to learn from the greatest ever.

4. Mom- You know she wants her baby closer to home. lol

I kept hoping this season that he'd start to show improvement, really look like he did two years ago... but that never happened. He's as incredible a game-manager as ever, and still crazy efficient... but it just doesn't look like he's ever going to be able to carry the offense the way he once could.

If so, I question whether he's going to be worth what it'll cost to get him. Even as-is he'd be the best player on our team, but is it worth the kind of mega-deal he'll probably still command? I don't know.

Last year I would have been willing to give everything we had to get him and pay him a max deal. Today, that's risky to say the least.

I guess it all depends on whether or not we land Kemba. If we get K-Drama there is no need for Paul. He, DJ, and Shaun would give us an extremely solid pointguard rotation. This would mean even more money to throw at Dwight, and possibly bring back Gerald.
