Kings Vs Lakers

Post#1 » by DoctorS » Wed Apr 13, 2011 5:45 am

If you wanted a playoff game to be your farewell game in Sacramento, you got it. Sort off. This will be the most important regular season game this season and the one that has the most playoff implications.
Playoff hopes of quite a few teams will depend on Kings success in this game.

Mavs will obviously want you to win in order to have a home court advantage over the Lakers in the second round.
Hornets obviously want you to win so that they can avoid the Lakers in the first round.
Even the Spurs want you to win because your win can help them avoid the Lakers in the playoffs and help them get into the NBA Finals.

Switching from Kings to the Lakers doesn't seam right. Why don't you try Warriors? They are a local team. They are obvious choice for north California Kings fans. And they are likable team.

But if Kings do beat the Lakers tonight, you have every reason in the world to support Mavs and the Hornets in the playoffs because their playoff success will be influenced by the Kings giving them better seating by beating the Lakers. So you still have things to do before switching from Kings to a new team.

LEGGO KINGS!!

In the playoffs I'll be on that Heat bandwagon..
Would be nice to see a former King win a ring.

I think Scott Pollard was the last former King to win one..

I have been a true die hard Lakers fan for 15 years of my 19 year life, and I was extremely into the 3peat team. The battles we had with sacramento during that run made me have such a deep hatred for the kings and i had cowbells ringing in my dreams for much of 2002 lol. But i have to say i am very sad that you may be losing your team, and even from a lakers fan, i wish the team could be saved. The Kings fans are one of the best in the league no doubt. Although the rivalry has died down of late, i still have fond memories of that 2002 thriller every time we play...but NOTHING would be sweeter than ending arco arena and basketball in sacramento with a Lakers win.

I came to US in early 2000s to Sacramento. Being my first city in US, I always have soft corner and love for City of Sacramento, even though I lived there for less than 2 yrs.

Then I moved to Bay Area where I lived until end of 2010. I started following NBA around 2004 when Kings decline had already started. But that love for Sacramento, made me follow the kings. For me Kings are because of Sacramento not the other way around. Thats why I will no longer be Kings/Royals fan if they leave Sacramento.

You are right that if I am a die-hard kings fan then I shouldn't be potential Lakers fan. But I have always rooted for Lakers as my second team. I don't have much hatred for them because may be when I started following Kings the rivalry was almost over (around 2005). I have seen more Kings-Warriors rivalry then Kings-Lakers. So warriors will never be my team, even though I lived in Bay Area the most. The reason for hatred could be western conference bottom dwellers rivalry between kings-warriors, tyreke-curry.

Now I live in Austin, TX so the obvious choice would be Spurs. But I am not a bandwagon fan, and even though Spurs are doing good, have a better record than Lakers, I will still root for Lakers should Kings move.

New Orleans vs Dallas should end by when this starts. If Dallas loses, we would be happy to pull our starters and concede the game to you guys...Let's see what happens.

I wish Bynum was healthy. Nothing would've been sweeter than a win and Cousins destroying Gasol and Bynum.

What would be the point of Kings winning if Lakers don't need to win?
Besides, there is no way Mavs would lost to the Hornets at home.

Last Kings game ever.

I'm an italian Kings fan and I'm very sad for this, in the 1995 I saw first Kings game of my life, tonight this is the end of a great love.

I'm not support fake Kings or Royals in Anaheim/LA, Sacramento is the only home for the Kings, the Kings live only in Sacramento.

Very very sad day for me, it's 1.16 Am here near Venice and I say GO KINGS FOREVER!

Sorry for my bad english but I'm really disconsolate.

KEEP THE KINGS IN SACRAMENTO

HERE WE STAY

Bye to all Kings fans like me
Italy wants Kings in Sacto, KEEP THE KINGS IN SACRAMENTO

I'm sure everyone that can play, will play. I just hope we see a real game tonight and Westphal tries to win this one. I have doubts in some areas about Westphal but as a man who genuinely wants to give the fans something back, I have NONE.

Here is a quote from Westphal couple of days ago:

"If it's the last game in this building we want to close it with a win over the Lakers, and if it's something that will catapult us to next season.... here... we want to end it with a win over the Lakers"

Also:

“It was beautiful. Kings fans support us through thick and thin. I mean no matter what. Even though we’re not going to the playoffs they are still here and cheering us on.”

-Cousins

"The fans are loyal and come to games even if we’re not winning to support us. I think it’s going to hurt a lot of people if we leave.

How much are standing room tickets usually? I'm still thinking about skipping class and going to the game if there are still tickets.

Peja is attending the Kings-Lakers game! He was excused today's game (Hornets-Mavs) due to "personal reasons"

Wow! That's one of the most unusual things I've ever seen.

Return to Sacramento Kings
