Using a top 5 pick on knight, umm, got it!

He's an absolute beast, MADE for the NBA, he will be a star in my opinion.

However, like everyones saying, if Barnes doesn't come out, and we aren't top 2, you'd have to look to move down...there's some nice guys later in the lottery or mid/late 1st...but if you're picking up 3-6 you're reaching for someone.

I don't know about you, but I'd take Williams over Barnes if Irving is gone.

yeye irving is my number one pick and williams is my number 2 pick but even if we stay at 3 or move down to 4 or 5 i wouldnt mind those 3 prospects

An advantage of drafting a "Euro" (i.e. kids now playing in the Euro leagues) this time is that they will continue to develop with good coaching next year during the lockout. What the hell are Irving and D-Will gonna do?

bboyskinnylegs wrote:Imo, Kanter looks like he's somewhere between a Greg Monroe and a Marc Gasol in terms of size/athleticism. At 26 now, Gasol's got the same wingspan (7-1"), and same weight (265) as Kanter's Hoop Summit measurements from a year ago. At 20, Monroe's 9'0.5" standing reach is closer to Kanter's. They can all create and score in the post, and can step out to knock down jumpers. Gasol's the better shotblocker and is an excellent passer, but Kanter looks more mobile and active on the glass.

I don't think he's unathletic at all, he's more of a traditional bang in the post big rather than an athletic freak. He's still the youngest kind to ever play in the Euroleague, beat out Jonas the two times they faced each other in the U-18 Championship last year (and averaged 18.6/16.4/1.8 in that tournament), had rival teams refusing to play against him when he went to Stone Ridge Prep (where he apparently averaged 35/20 in his senior season), drops 21/17 in the Jordan Brand Classic in 2008, and 34/13 in 24 mins at the Hoop Summit last year. Didn't get to play for Kentucky this year, but practices with Calipari and draws praise from his coach/teammates as part of the reason they were able to do so well. In this draft, where we've seen three top prospects drop out now, I think he's definitely one of the top 4 players available.

Just for the record, the u-18 european championship you're talking about was 2 years ago, not lasi year.
In 2009 the lith guards were just atrocious, as dumb as it gets, it was a brickfest all tournament long. The only game where they really played trogh Valanciunas was the SF vs France where he scored almost 40. While i might agree that Kanter was slightly more dominant at that point, it was due to his early physical maturation, he looked like Hulk compared to Jonas and even the guys 1 year older
In the championship held in 2010 Lithuania rolled over every oponent with Jonas leading the way and winning undisputedly the MVP.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

isn't that part of his appeal? Ibaka is a great young player.... although I think there's some key differences. Ibaka had a solid jumper coming into the league, and better overall offensive upside imo. However Biyombo is a bigger prospect. He weighs 20 lbs more than Ibaka did, and has a ridiculous wingspan that gives him the standing reach of most C's in the league. But both are very athletic, and look solid defensively.

Ibaka is a natural PF who can play as center if required, not the opposite, while Biyombo is basically a traditional C.

Irving doesn't need to develop. He's already a superstar.

Sorry, thanks for pointing that out. I agree that Jonas has definitely come a long way and I think of the three bigs that we might potentially consider with our pick (Kanter/Jonas/Biyombo), he's probably the most balanced in terms of potential on both ends. He definitely needs to get stronger and fill out some more though.

I would never suggest drafting anyone over Irving. But if we end up at #2 and KI is gone, who do you draft?

Williams, Kanter or Barnes, and not necessarily in that order

Davis plays C & our new starting PF is Williams!

On O I think D.Will can play SF. It's just on D he might get burned. Maybe.. Watching him he didnt seem to play like your typical pf. He was more of a face up player with range. Like Beasly but with a better shot and can take contact.

I actually think he'd struggle more defending NBA PFs vs. NBA SFs. I think he's a strong, athletic SF like Melo/Beasley...but NBA PFs are going to be too much to handle. And if that's the case, we can have a very good, athletic lineup with Jerryd/DeMar/DWill/Ed/_?_
