hmm..I dunno about Derrick Williams at SF. He'll have a bit of development to do. (I'm basing this on highlights since I don't watch college ball).

He doesn't seem to handle the ball that often..seems like he cuts and moves without the ball more. From his highlights, he doesn't get a lot of lift on his shot and sometimes his wind up is slow (not sure if that's an issue since he's 6'9?). I like Barnes a bit better, he looks quicker, more explosive with a better face-up game. Williams has a more NBA ready body though.

Barnes' got the pull up jumper on Williams, but at least at this point he really doesn't have a better face-up game than Williams who is an excellent face-up post player and overall a much more polished offensive player. There's a reason why he was able to score nearly 20 PPG on just 10 FGA.

Irving doesn't need to develop. He's already a superstar.

Irving will also be teaching Jose and Bayless how to run the team and play defense and teach Andrea how to rebound.

face-up post player? I count that as just a post game. I meant face-up as in Barnes would make a better slasher..but I wouldn't really know anyways. It was just speculation as I'm not familiar with either player or their stats. Didn't even know Williams average 20 PPG..I thought it was 15 and 7 (obviously that was his freshman year).

Please let some other sucker team want an undersized PF/slow SF with great shooting range.

He did transform himself from a virtual unknown to a potential top pick in under two years. Given his work ethic and talent, it's very possible he could make a seamless transition to the three.

Don't like him for what this team needs. He seems to be a bigger Derozan, minus the slashing skills and Add long range shooting.

We need a more dynamic SF, who can defend, slash, and score like a old school SF.

Williams looks like more of a powerforward. Here's hoping we get Irving, if not then Barnes. I really hope these dudes declare.

Do not want.

Didn't he mention in a postgame interview during the tournament that he was one of the worst 3pt shooters on the Wildcats team in practice? Was he just being modest? If him truly being a mediocre 3pt shooter is the case, I hope for our sake's his true colours show during workouts. The last thing we need is another poor shooting, defensively challenged SF. Or PF playing SF, rather.

Very happy to hear both Irving and Williams are in.

I fear MLSE is going to spoil this draft. Dangling the contract over BC basically gives them control of the pick.

My opinion of Williams is only based of what I saw in this years Tournament.

And the player's game he kept reminding me of is Paul Pierce. And not much difference in their physical stature either. Pierce 6'7" 235lbs vs. Williams 6'8' 240lbs.

His 3pt % went from 25% last year to 56.8% this year, looks like he's willing to put in the work!

59.5% from the floor and 74.6% from the line. Also 8.3 reb per game. Can't really complain about his numbers.

2nd best 3pt % on the team. 7th most 3pts attempted on the team with 74. Those in front of him 141, 107, 91, 86, 79, 77.

He has great basketball IQ, so becoming a SF in the nba would better for him... Passing is 95% mental in my opinion. The guy's going to be a great shooter too. But do we get a top 2 pick? Knowing our luck we'll probably drop and/or a player will refuse to come to Canada.... (i've been tainted from years past).

haha... you're right. Bottom 3 finish a lot better than 9th or somethings. Could be a lot worse.

I was just thinking what if we landed a top 3 pick and didn't trade for JJ. Do you guys think it would of been possible to use that on Biyambo. Then we could of had irving/biyambo or barnes/biyambo and other possible combinations.
